Tutorial For Double Mag Holster With Tension Screw?

I need to make a double mag holster for double stack 45ACP mags. I would like to do these with an adjustable tension screw. But dont know how.

I've seen companies either use rubber hose or rubber grommets for the "cushion" device. Where I'm lost at is what fasteners to use, and how do I keep the head of the screw from ripping through the leather.

Any advice on the proper hardware would be awesome.

Also, do most people use a flat back for these and only form the front piece, or would the traditional "pancake" design be acceptable here??

I've done mag carriers before, but never a double, and certainly none with a tension adjustment..

Use a flat head machine screw, finishing washer (countersunk) (ex: #92918A135) on the top, with some clear tubing as the cushion in the middle, then the Tnut on the backside.

Specifics about thread size, screw length, Tnut style and hardware finish are up to you.

Have you been able to find t nuts without the spurs? the only ones I have found have the spurs sticking up that I have to cut off.... the spurs are for knocking them into wood.

The spurs - yes - they were intended for use in wood - but they were more directly intended to keep the post from rotating in whatever material they are used with when tightening. You'll need some method to secure the post, and the spurs are your best bet in my opinion. If you want them without spurs, you'll need the studs that were intended for use with brad nails - it's a flat "washer" (without the spurs cut into it) with tiny holes for brad nails. I bought some at Lowes in the specialty fasteners bins.

Scoville (DOT) fasteners has some flat square Tnuts that I use specifically for retention screws. Also McMaster-Carr has a good selection and I believe they've got flat ones as well. I just ordered my barbed ones from them so the pics are fresh in my head.

Thanks, Do you have a part number or a link from thier webstie, I could not find anything like that on thier site. I also looked at McMaster-Carr but only found the ones with the prongs, I must be looking in the wrong place do you remember thier part number?

Looks like Scoville doesn't carry the part number anymore. Google "Flat Tnut"

This is a version of a double mag pouch I made using the method Shorts described... it turned out well.. I'll post a picture of the holster it was made to match also, do you can see how the set turned out..
