  1. How long should I let Oil Dye dry for, before buffing and coating with Clear-lac?

    Help?!

I'll take some pics and post them... i haven't done much more than experimenting on scraps, I am getting ready to start a project which I will incorperate tattooing. This guy makes seats, the tattoo work is mediocre, but shows that it can be done Electric Solos One thing I have figured out, black and grey works way better than color. The colors just don't look right, even on stuff I have seen well done. I'm going to stick with black and grey for now.

    Help?!

I've been tattooing for a long time and have recently started playing around with tattooing leather. Giving the leather a couple coats of clear lac before tattooing it seems to be the trick. Everything wipes off just fine. I even used a regular thermal fax stencil. This would require that all tooling/dying be done before, so applying the tattoo is the last step, then another coat of clear-lac over the tattoo. I use tattoo ink and green soap, just like on skin.
  4. That would be a human mandible spur. Isn't that what everyone uses??
  5. I'm most likely doing something wrong, or out of order, but it seems like when I apply Clear-lac, some of the stain gets removed (streaks) I'm doing most stuff in this order, after tooling: 1- Neatsfoot oil (dry for 24hrs) 2- 1 coat of clear-lac (dry for several hours) 3- antique (dry for several hours) 4- Airbrush stain (dry overnight) 5- Final coat of clear lac, this is when the streaks occur. What am I doing wrong??? Also, when and what is the best method for buffing the stain?
  6. NICE!! I need to do something like that...
  7. Would doing a single or double loop stitch around the edge of a binder cover stifffen it too much? I like that look, but I'm afraid the cover wont fold correctly over the spine. I'm sure someone has attempted this!
  8. How long do you folks like to leave the antique paste on there before wiping it off?
  9. I'd love to get my hands on one of those. Anybody know where else they can be found? I use the whirling logs symbol quite often.
