  1. I would like to know about this too. I have found that some of my goat leather definitely stretches more in one direction more than the other. Its also different parts of a hide have more stretch than others, but i think theres several factors at play here. I also tried shrinking a phone coved made of 2 identical shapes stitched together Immersed in boiling water (stupid idea), and found one side shrank considerably more than the other..
  2. I have a pair of hiking / snow boots that are supposed to be water proof, but i still spray them with a waterproofing solution each time i go on a snow holiday. Ive not got enough left to do them again for this trip, but i have a big bottle of carnauba cream / creme. Is this recommended to apply to give them a extra level of waterproofing. I know it will darken then (its a medium tan / brown) but im ok with that. Any problems with with doing this?
  3. Hey tom, you are a great contributor. How does this work in real life, what happens if its opened the wrong way do the coins fall out? Or is it supposed to be used like sort of squeeze the sides and let them slide into the pocket end before closing? hmm i think i answered my own question after thinking about it
  4. Learn to crawl first. 1) make a leather book mark (just cutting) 2) Make a coin purse. One piece of leather, folded once with 2 lines of stitching, and a attachment mechanism using push studs or a press stud on the closing flap. you will not want to waste leather on large projects, there's too much too learn to get to what you want to do
  5. OH wow thanks for that folks. I excluded Tandy from my sources early on because of their prices but they do have a lot of useful stuff, quality no so good i hear. Is Craftool their own brand? THey are actual hole punchs, is their anything thats just more stabby, to open up a hold rather than cut out? thanks Jason
  6. Hi all, Is there such a thing as a multi pronged round hole punch on the market. An alternative maybe a small diamond prong but with wide spacing. All the smaller punchs have very small spacing between prongs. Do they exist or do i have to get something custom made or resort to using an round awl or press setup one hole at a time.
  7. HI ,There are literally hundreds of tanneries just east of Bangkok, they employ over 100,000 thais, so maybe you need to look harder Id say it will be easier once you hit the ground in bangkok as thais arent that internet savvy yet. I dont think you have a problem finding a distributer or 2. Im having trouble finding what im after here in australia, so im looking international and will seek out thai sources too and let you know if i find anything.
  8. I am a newbie too , its been about 2 months as well. THis is my first post , thought it was about time to join in. Im on the gold coast not 'too' far from you.
