  1. Eco Flow Dyes

  2. Thank you Adam, I have been wondering how saddles were made for years; now once I have rad about it I can try. Thanks again, Malcolm
  3. Good Day All, I have recently been obliged to use Fiebings Institutional Dye instead of their Spirit based dye. I achieved excellent results by dilution and then finished with Institutional Dye Finish. What I would like to ask is the following: What does the "Finish" do? I spilled some dye on my fingers and it took ages to wash away. I ran some test pieces under water with no effect. So why do I need to apply the finish? Any information will be appreciated. Thank you.
  4. Hi, I have recently used Institutional Dye for the first time and achieved excellent results by diluting heavily with water about 3 water to one dye. The I repeatedly dyed the are concerned and got to the final colour required. So far I am very happy with the results. Malcolm
  5. Thank you Knipper, a solution at last. I have been using grinding paste on my strop for some time. A few years ago I bought jewelers rouge but because it failed, I assumed I had purchased the wrong sort. Just last week I received some from the Tandy agent in Cape Town and so far I am very disappointed. Now I know why. I find I get the best results by first honing the blade and then a final honing on a small Arkansas stone. I have a strop with grinding paste which gives fair results, but I find the oiled Arkansas stone gives me the edge I am looking for. I will look into the availability of the compounds that you mention. Thank you for clearing that problem. Malcolm
  6. I like the rose, how do you do it?
  7. J Hewitt, Edinborough, Bookbinding suppliers offer a wide range of aniline dyes. I have never tried them, but I think I will be forced to. I am having difficulty getting professional oil dyes because aircraft refuse to carry them. Malcolm
  8. Beautifully done, I think the concept is wonderful. Malcolm
  9. Hi Woodentop, You can get hold of me too and I will help wherever I can. I am originally from the UK but now resident in Namibia. Malcolm zvtc.m.williamson@gmail.com
