  1. Thanks for all the replies. I figured it was probably too good to be true So, I think goods japan is the way to go for me, what would you consider a minimum starter set?
  2. Hey guys, I am just wanting to try my hand at leather tooling. On Ebay a cheap set of 9 stamping tools only costs about $10 shipped, they look very similar to the Tandy basic tool set which costs $40+ plus shipping (I'm in Europe by the way). Does anyone have experience of the cheapo ones? Would they be good enough to start with? I know the basic craft tools don't seem to have a great rep on here anyway, so I figure if I got into it, I would be going for something a bit better anyway. Thanks!
  3. Wow. And I thought €100 was a good deal!
  4. Hi Chief, Thanks for the reply. You have pretty much confirmed what I was thinking. Maybe a full side of it would be a bit too much for me right now.
  5. Hi, thanks for the reply. To start with I was thinking of the 4 slot bifold as uploaded by ducjes here: After that, who knows? :-)
  6. I am just starting out and have a couple small pieces of 8/9oz veg tan leathers, probably enough to make a couple of sheaths. I would like to make some wallets and that sort of thing. Tandy Europe are doing a deal on 2/3oz 'Oak-Leaf 'sides. My question is: How useful is 2/3oz leather? I was thinking it could be an economical way to get some practice or is it too thin? Thanks!
