First Bowden Saddle Tree...is It Ok?

Recommended Posts

Hi. This is my first post on the forum and I didn't see this topic covered anywhere that I could find. Sorry if it has been.

I just received my first Bowden saddle tree and when I set it on a flat surface, only three out of the four corners of the bars touch the table. The other one is about 1/4 to 3/8 inch high. Within tolerance?

Seems like it may put uneven pressure on a horse's back. What should I do before putting more money into building this saddle? Send it back? Thanks for your help in advance.

Personally, I wouldn't use it. If you send it back for an exchange, you'll probably get another just like it. I'd look for a better treemaker - there are lists of them on the site here.

Thanks JAM. I know there is a guy here in Bozeman that makes trees. I'll look him up.
