how do I sew shearling?

Ok, I don't have "THE" specific machien to sew shearling. So i have a few general questions for those of you that have sewn it before.

1) what size thread

2) what type of thread ( poly or nylon)

3) I'll be using "MOMS" singer from wally world so what type of stitch would be best?

I have an artisan 618 but it only sews a straight stitch, if that would be best then let me know

Any knowledge on sewing shearling greatly appreciated here ! Thanks guys/Gals
