This Is How I Spent My Christmas Eve Night And My Christmas Night

Recommended Posts

Well folks this is how I spent my Christmas Eve night and my Christmas night.

I have been wanting to do this for such a long time and I had some free time

and I had some scrap leather so I decided to do a little Mexican basket weave braid.

Haven't decided what braid I want to do on the inside of the bracelet.

Can't wait till I can get my hands on some good whiskey tan kangaroo hide so that I can do some nice braiding.

Any comments or critiques are welcome.

I don't know a thing about rope work but I like your braiding job. I love to lace. Where do you purchase your kangaroo lace?

Thanks for the kind comment.

If you're looking for some kangaroo lace the best place to purchase it would be through Brian Kidd at Knot Heads World Wide.net

he can hook you up with some good kangaroo lace for the best price you can get anywhere.

He has a connection in Australia where he gets his kangaroo hides at a discount.

Brian is a member of this forum also, he might just chime in.

You can also get roo lace from Barb and Y-Knotlace.com and from Paul Nolan of midwestwhips.com. Both are good lace although Paul isn't in the lace business but the whip business. I buy roo hides from Paul and cut my own lace. I have had contact with Brian but never gotten any of his lace. All three are great to workwith.

I've had Springfield kangaroo lace but I really like Y-Knot lace the best. Sometimes she's out of some of the colors or sizes so I was just wanting a back up source. Thanks guys

Hardtke in El Paso is also a good spot for drum-stuffed hides. I get mine from them and cut my own. Very quick service with just a phone call. Brad

Yep. I like Hardtke in El Paso also. But only for the hide I'm out of and can not get the order from Australia fast enough. I don't get that much of a discount from my supplier in Australia. It's about the average price that anyone else would pay. I get mine from that supplier because I have met him over skype and gotten to talk with him a bit. I know that I get the best hide I can get from him becuase he hand picks for me. He's one of the Packer Leather suppliers and gets his stuffed and done at their plant and then goes and picks the ones he likes the best. Not much to it actually. I do cut all my own lace from those hides I buy from my supplier.
