Been Busy Doing Non-Leatherwork

Recommended Posts

Well a good friend of mine asked me if I could help him out for a few weeks with his sandblasting business. Not expecting it to be too terribly bad I said sure why not. Well here's some pictures of me at work. Man I'll tell you what.....this sure isn't as easy as pounding leather all day.

But I commited myself to help him out for the summer, after him only asking for a few weeks. There is a bonus to it all, I get an all expenses paid trip to Montreal, Quebec next week to see and explore the Kenworth truck factory there.

Got tired of standing

A bigger sandstorm

After a five minute rain and hail storm, had to shut here down.....YEAH

I'm sandblasting driveways and sidewalks to expose the aggregate to make it look real nice. This is becoming very popular in the new housing areas of Calgary.

Been there. Done that. Except I was on a ladder (2-story) all day. 80 degrees and 80% humidity. I'd need some better pay if I were to do it again!

That's very nice, Ken! May we call you Sandy now? I think Dale is trying to make you feel better since you don't have to be on a ladder. Have fun in Quebec when you go!

Know the feeling! I've been the photographer for my whisky club on a 7 seven day field trip to scotland. Been home for over a week now and still has some photowork left to attend (mailing to people we've met etc.) Now I'm picking up pace on leathers again but valuable time was lost, I have alot of work to do and most are comissions + people requesting stuff.

Well, with that vest you made Ken, you sure have deserved a nice vacation from leathers;-)

Maynard G. Krebs had a word for that..."WORK?!"

Good on ya...Friends helpin friends.

Some years back, as a builder, I used to do that with new concrete jobs. At just the right point of hardening, I would sprinkle the stone on and wet it down a bit. The stone would sink to just the right level exposed but set into the mix. I think we did it the easy way...as for you...lol

Well another day done. Man I think I'm a bit too old for this, but once commited, I have to stay. And what the hell, he is paying me quite well to boot. By the end of the summer I can hit the Tandy store, the Leather wholesaler, and maybe even get a bunch of Barry King tools as well to keep me busy over the winter.

Tom, would have loved to go to Scotland, one of my all time "Want to see" places. I think I could wander the countryside there for years and never get tired of it.

Well off to bed, real work again in the morning.

Ken
