Is The Vinegaroon Gas Dangerous/smelly?

Recommended Posts

It is winter and I heat my shop at a bare minimum when not using it.

I'm thinking about brewing a batch of vinegaroon in the south facing window of our living room...the warmest part of the house.

Does the gas emitted just smell like vinegar? Is the gas dangerous in any way?

It smells like vinegar for sure but I doubt it's dangerous unless it's in concentrated fumes. It contains acid and I suppose that could irritate your eyes and lungs in an enclosed area with no ventilation.

Thanks guys.

To be safe, I'm going to make it in a 2liter pop bottle. Fill it halfway, collapse the bottle in on itself and put the cap on tight.

Any gas produced will have a good amout of room to expand.

As long as gas production happens slowly, it should be easy enough to monitor.

Wish me luck
