Help Identifying This German Tool Maker

Recommended Posts

Hi all

Ive been busy on ebay lately, one of the items I picked up is a post war, German plough gauge

The supplied knife is not the correct one, as the rest of the tool is very nicely put together I'm attempting to track down the correct one.

only makers mark on the brass are the letters S & L stamped over each other.

Any idea who the maker is ?

Pictures below, any help very much appreciated

It was made between 1946 and 89 because it was made in West Germany. maybe Kappy.

I believe that if you were to go to the topic below this one, Tools of a Swiss Sattler, and asked Walter or Tor for information, you would receive an answer.

They know the tools.

God Bless.

The Plough is from Paffrath .... http://www.paffrath-remscheid.de/ a German Toolmakers of the still producing today.

or all hole punches, etc.

The Part is below .... To find ( in German Langwhich ) - "Niet- & Ösenwerkzeuge".

Safety deposit box available that are still.

The knife is from Toolmaker with the ...."L in the oval".

I'm not quite sure, but the Nae man was ....."Langenhahn" .....and came from Suhl in Thuringia, ex DDR - East Germany.

A toolmaker who worked since ca. 1910, and made very fine quality.

So, the Knife is not the original of the Plough.

greeting

Walter

Hello Macca,

Walter has already answered your question. I have the same tool with the original knife; which is`nt anything special by the way. Thin steel and light wood. Nevertheless, it cuts alright. My tool also came with an wedge for cutting round pieces. http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=45729&hl=%2Bnew+%2Bgerman+%2Bplough+%2Bgauge here is some pictures from the topic about it.

Thanks

Tor

Hi Macca,

The number says simply # 6 1994. If you are going to sell the other knife I might have a plough I can use it in. Send me a PM if you want to sell it.

Thanks

Tor
