Which Needle Size For .5Mm Thread?

I'm currently using the tandy large eye needle and they are absolutely terrible. What needle size would be the best for .5mm thread for 10 spi?

From the grumpy old guy: I hand stitch everything I do, and use #1 harness needles. In my opinion you should use nothing larger than #0 (zero) sized needles. Mike

P.S.Needles are sized (from larger to smaller) #00, #0, #1 etc.

im looking to do watch bands and wallets, would a size 7 be used for that or could a #1 harness needle be used

Yes, for watch bands I'd use a smaller needle. Mike
