Setting Prym Snaps

Recommended Posts

I'm using small Prym snaps and the appropriate setters (shown in the pic). The snap on the left won't set very good. I bought these from Ohio Travel Bag.

I have a hand press that I'd like to use but as far I know there are no dies for Prym snaps.

If you also use Prym snaps what are you doing to set them? How are your results? Where do you buy your snaps?

With great difficulty. I tried using the Prym snaps and they just don't set easily. I tried the setting tools they sell for them and they don't really work. I ended up buying SW snaps from universal fasteners (now owned by YKK) and they work much better. You have to have a resellers license to purchase from them. The snaps themselves are not expensive but the setters are. I am about to place an order from them if you want to purchase anything. PM me.

Thanks! I'll check out SW snaps.

I don't think I'm going to buy anymore setters. I want dies that work with my hand press.

The results are great with jiffy rivets, eyelets and everything else so far.

Here's my hand press. Mine does not have the FEPATEX logo on it. Also purchased from Ohio Travel Bag.

They might be exclusive to their snaps as they measure 15 or 17mm, the caps I have are just over 10mm.

These may not work after all.

Here's another set for 10mm
