  1. Sorry for the question. I am making some holsters that I use a dummy gun to mold with. I have been dying first with fiebings spirit dye and then pressure molding in a press. After they dry my color is blotchy and inconsistant. If I mold first, then dye. I seem to get incosistant color as well due to some portions of holster being pressed more and some areas being more porous. Pleas help if you can. Any ideas. This is not as much of a problem with dark colors but espically true with light brown and british tan.
  2. HOWDY, IM NEW TO THIS AND HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS. ON IWB HOLSTERS, WHAT IS THE BEST WEIGHT OF LEATHER? WHAT IS THE BEST PART OF THE HIDES IE: BACK, SIDE SHOULDERS ? I NEED IT TO FIRM UP VERY WELL AND ACCEPT DYE WELL. WHAT IS THE DIFFRENCE IN LEATHER IN CATAGORIES 1,2,3 ? WHERE IS THE BEST AND MOST ECONOMICAL LEATHER TO BUY? DO YOU DYE FIRST AND THEN SEW AND ASSEMBLE OR DYE AT END? THANKS
  3. ok, all sounds good and thanks on the thread size. just one last ??? on thread size 207 What needle size?? on thread size 277 What needle size?? and on thread size 346 what needle size??? and what kind of thread is best, bonded, non-bonded?? and nylon or polyester or other?? Thanks guys, ireally apperciate the help and advice!!!!!

Hi just got my Artisan 3000 and works great, The bobbins on ebay are cheaper than Artisan and I was wondering what size I look for, maybe M? also im sewing 2 layers of 9oz and need some advice on thread type and size, Maybe 277 bonded? also what size needles do I use for 207,277,346 thread? thanks for help
  5. HI, JUST NEED SOME ADVICE PLEASE. IM BUILDING SOME HOLSTERS AND MY PROCESS IS THIS. 1. CUT LEATHER 2. USE TANDY CONTACT CEMENT ON EDGES 3. SEW 4.150 DEGREE SOAK FOR 90 SECONDS TO MOLD AND HARDEN LEATHER 5. DRY AND DYE 6. SATIN FINISH AND DRY 7. GUM TAGAMUTH EDGES AND BURNISH 8. EDGE COAT THEN BEES WAX mY EDGES ARE SEPERATING AND IT MESSES UP MY NICE BURNISHED EDGE. IS HOT WATER OR DYE OR HEAT FRON BURNISHING MAYBE CAUSING THIS? ANY COMMENTS ON THE ORDER I DO MY STEPS WOULD HELP????????
