  1. Tandy's New Clicker Press

Has anybody seen Tandy's new clicker press? When I first heard it was coming and going for around $950 with business pricing, I was really excited. But after going out to see it last week, I'm really disappointed. I figured they just put their name on something that was already being made and we'd end up with one in the same style as the Weaver Mighty Wonder or Cowboy's manual press. But that's not what they did at all. As best I can tell, they must be having this thing made just for them. I was so disheartened I didn't even bother to take a picture, but they're rolling out into stores nationwide, so it should be on the website shortly. If you haven't seen it yet... it looks kind of like the Tippman and the Weaver merged into one. It looks like it's about the same size as the small Tippman and, like the Tippman, it has a fixed and relatively short opening height, but it's not pneumatic. It's got a lever like the Weaver, but it lacks the Weaver's ability to swing side to side (it's best feature in my opinion). If that's not bad enough, it actually has walls on either side (the whole thing looks like it's about 8 inches wide), which seriously limits what you could ever use it for. I'm shocked Tandy chose this route actually. If there's one thing I've learned hanging out in these forums, it's how thrifty and resourceful this crowd is. I don't think I could do anymore with this press than I could with my Harbor Freight Arbor Press, so why would I pay $900 more for it?
  2. Attention! Today is the LAST day to order COWBOY SEWING MACHINES before prices go up 8% on Nov 1st due to tariffs! A lot of people have been waiting to order machines, hoping that there will be a black friday sale, or holiday discount. DON'T WAIT. Tomorrow, NOV 1st 2018, the tariffs are applied and the prices go up 8%. This increase is larger than any black friday discount that could be applied. We've put this off as long as possible, but it has to happen tomorrow. MAKE YOUR MOVE NOW! Come tomorrow, all the prices will increase. Since all of our thread is American Made, it will stay at $19/1lb cone. Alexander Blackhear President/Owner Solar Leather Machines www.solar-leather.com 817-422-9151

  4. Leather machinery advice

Hi all, I currently make leather bags by hand (up to 10oz thick) and am looking to buy some machinery to ease the strain on my joints - I've done some research but it's hard to find any UK sellers for most of the things suggested on this forum - I wondered if anyone could recommend any hand presses (for punching and rivet setting), hand clickers (for die cutting), and burnishing machines sold in the UK. Budget is pretty limited, hence the request for hand tools rather than hydraulic. If anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danielle

  8. Guidance needed!

Hey everyone! Im fairly new to the leatherworking industry and im just starting to build up my tool collection. Ive begun to get more and more orders so im looking for something to help my efficiency in production. One thing that slows me down is installing button snaps and rivets. Maybe i need more practice doing it by hand but i have trouble setting these in sometimes. This slows me down since i have to remove the messed up snap or rivet and can sometimes cause me to damage or scratch the item im working on. Its also happened a couple of times when the snap or rivet come off altogether after i thought it was securely in place. I want to produce high quality items for my customers and rid the fear of the item possibly coming appart. Can anyone point me in the direction of an affordable snap/rivet press? The one's on tandy are a little to pricey for me at the moment. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. P.s. i dont mind buying second hand tools! Much appreciated, Ruben
  9. Bolt for Tandy Press

Does anyone know where I can get one of these bolts? May have to make one if I can't find them. This is from the old Tandy press
  10. Ok... say you want a new cutting die? Do you guys have one made or do you make it yourself or ? I have a large hydraulic press that was used to die cut foam board for years. I have some dies for it but they are all circles of different diameters. It has about 6" of open space and is 48" wide or so. Its a two post design. I'd like to use it to cut fabric, leather, heavy vinyl etc? Dave
  11. Does anyone recognize this little setting press ? I picked it up at the week end and strangely there are No markings on it at all. It would be nice to know if tooling is still available... It is quite a nicely made bit of kit. http://www.bysonleather.co.uk/Odds & Sods.htm
  12. Automatic Rivet Press for sale

Liquidating leather shop machinery. Here is an automatic feed foot press rivet machine. Although the name plate is missing, it looks to be a Tubular Rivet and Stud Company machine vintage about 1947 or so. Currently set up for 5/16" tubular rivets it automatically feeds the rivet, punches the hole and sets the rivet with either a splash anvil or cap - and does it flawlessly as did most machines of that era. Hopper holds easily 1000 rivets which it sorts, orients and feeds automatically. I have owned and operated this machine for over a decade in a gunleather shop and it has never needed anything but more rivets. Local pickup preferred - weighs about 350# More photos here: https://eugene.craigslist.org/search/sss?query=rivet press&sort=rel Will also be listing the smaller Heritage press in the background soon. It's set up for belt loop staples but I still have the small auto-feed rivet mechanism. PM for more info.

  20. I recently purchase the Gold Star heavy duty table press for doing snaps, grommets, etc. It was a press that has been recommended on this site. I am curious if anyone else has had issues w/ this press? I received the first press, along w/ the die set for the line #20 snaps. When I got them I noticed that the dies do not seem to line up properly..especially the dies for the domed portion of the snap. I contacted the company and they sent me a new press. The new press doesn't seem to be much better. The bottom part of the snaps seems to set fairly decently, but the top portion of the snaps I am having an issue with. It looks to me like the die that sets the inside ring snap does not line up properly w/ the leg of the snap. I just tried to set a snap in some 2/3 oz embossed cowhide and I had 4 snaps fail. I have attached a side view picture of the die set for the domed portion of the snap. I didn't include the inside ring on the top of the die so that you can see how it does not line up properly. I am curious if I just got two bad presses or if this is what to expect on a low priced press/die set? Here is a picture of a "good" snap after it is set and you can see it doesn't roll uniformly.
  21. I have a hand press from Allstarco with an assortment of dies for sale. Allstarco sells a variety of dies that fit this press. 23. I have an old 110V electric belt press that I purchased from landis International in Canada. I repainted it, oiled it and placed the decals on it. Works great and very powerful. This machine will punch belt or strap holes and the tip in one punch. Comes with old die that needs to be replaced or repaired. 3-4 of the belt punch holes are missing. Very strong and rare model that I believe was made by a company called Conseco. Price is $1900 Please message me if seriously interested. You must pickup at my shop in zip code 90731 located in Los Angeles, Ca area.
  24. Landis Electric Belt Punch Machine- Rare!

Landis Belt Press that I bought in Canada directly from Landis factory and I refurbished it cosmetically. This machine is 110V electric and will punch all belt holes and tip of belt with ease. The current die is the original and comes with the sale but this machine needs a new die made. Everything works great, but again, the die needs replacing which you can have made by Campbell-Randall for $350-$400. Motor is very strong, has fresh paint and oiled well. This is a very rare machine and I have never found one like it. Used in my belt shop but need to make room in shop for bigger equipment. Foot pedal and hand operation methods (they are interlinked so operate as you choose. Asking $3800. Must pick up or YOU arrange for it to be picked up. I can crate to for you for $200. This is a rare and reliable piece of machinery for your leather shop. Don't let it pass you by. Questions? Please reply to post thanks! My zip code is 90731 which is where this machine is located.
  25. Hello, I'm in the market for a 6" splitter, have been looking at a few Landis splitters but am open to other options. Does anyone here have one that they're looking to get rid of? I'm also looking for a good burnisher motor, and a clicker or hydraulic press. Thank you, Andrew
