Edge paint or edge dye?

Good afternoon everybody..First and foremost everyone has been so helpful and I wanted to say tha k you.

 

My project..a saints football wallet.Colors are black and gold.I was thinking to dye or paint the edges gold I am unsure which method is better and what product brand to trust.could use some advice

If you want gold, this is the only way to make it look good and have it be durable.  It will do the trick though.

it can make astounding edges.  But you really need to put the time in.

I use only dye now, but when I used to use paint I used Giardini and its really nice stuff.  I used to cut the pattern 1/8" wide in all directions.  Then I would glue, then cover the edges in masking tape on both sides of the leather.  Then I would cut the excess 1/8" off.  Then paint, sand, paint, sand, paint, sand.  Then remove masking tape.  Leaves a flawless edge.
