Once the putty has dried a little, you can smooth it out with a modeling tool. You want to try and shape it so that it looks like the back side of the head and back. Keep adding putty and working it until you are happy with the shape. Here is a tip from Jan Scnoonover when working with the putty. If you lick on the modeling tool, the putty wont stick to it. For some reason, water doesn’t work as well for this as saliva. I know it’s gross, but it works.
