I have a cool flashlight, but I didn't have a cool cord for it. Now I do—literally MacGyvered it on my knee in 20 minutes ) I didn't quite calculate the force and warped the rivet, but it's for personal use, so it's fine as is. If it really bothers me, I'll replace it.

Hey everyone! Just finished this new pattern (28x20x7 cm). I decided to add an Intrecciato-style weave on the front pocket to give it some texture. I’m trying to figure out the vibe — do you think this design leans more towards men’s or women’s style? Would love to hear your thoughts! I have also been working on the Stohlman Wallet challenge pattern. This is the pattern Jim Linnell will be teaching in one of his advanced classes at the Waco show. I was able to get a craftaid template from Jim from his Elktracks Studio. Its defiantly easier and quicker to use a craftaid. I do have the Stohlman book that this the basis of this challenge. My project: I’m using inexpensive leather from a Tandy black Friday sale. On of the economic sides. I transferred the pattern and began to cut the pattern onto the leather I’m using a smaller knife blade because of all the fine detail in the pattern. Today I started …

Hey all, I’m just in the middle of a guitar strap pattern from Don Gonzales. I’m wondering now that I’ve placed the letters if I should do anything with the background around them. I’m going to die the edges dark so the flowers pop and paint the letters but I’m not sure if I should tool a background or do a basket weave in the space. Maybe it will be too busy if I do. any suggestions?

First serious figure in over a year, tooled on Wickett and Craig bellies. They are inexpensive for good leather, just have to watch moisture content due to its low temper. Image is a smidge over 6 inches wide.

Completely saddle stitched at 4mm spi with .8 tiger thread. It's made of Valdibrana Conceria, Tarano, 4.5 oz black leather. I uses a "Queen Lock" from Made on Jupiter. The side gussets are extensions of the one piece wrap around body. There are no bottom seams. The small d rings are attached with strips of leather that pass through an oblong hole in the rear. the inner strip is stitched to the body of the bag from the inside. The outer wider strip is stitched to the body with a separate stitch line. This forces the load vertical to minimize the "peeling effect" on the stitch line when the billet is only surfaced mounted. The case is doubled where the lock is attached…

Hey there, I used fiebing’s resist on this piece before antiquing. I see the past has brought out the creases in the non tooled area of the leather. Any tips on avoiding this other than not applying the paste across the whole piece? thanks in advance! Jen

So I’ve got the opportunity to get a few of my pieces in a local gun store on consignment but really have no idea what to do for pricing. It’s a great way to get exposure and hopefully drum up more business. The Celtic design is just straight up leather. The bear design has a bison suede liner. The wolf design has a bison suede cheek pad.

I am making myself a wallet and wanted to practice an idea that I had. I am not happy with a couple of things I am not thrilled with the eye, eyebrow, lips and jaw line. I have attached a few pictures including what I am trying to replicate. I know the leather isn't the best but it is the weight I want and I knew this piece was a sacrifice to see if I could do it and to practice carving and dye technique.
