  1. Hats off to the Artisans who helped to bring into prespective what it takes to make a leather creation. I am constantly asked if I will take 20 bucks for something I have spend days to create. I just added a section over this subject on my blog. Thanks for extending the knowlege base.
  2. You do not leave contact information. Please email me at canaryleather@comcast.net to open conversation. My background extends beyond leather to manufacturing and product development. This looks very steam punk. -lph
  3. I have a small format flatbed printer which I have been experimenting with. I have printed on Veg tan and then cased and tooled. I will attempt to attach some photos. First photo is the original digital image. Second photo is the printed and tooled leather. After a year of use as a mouse pad. Email me separately for details.
  4. Thanks, I have a craft fair this weekend and one commission to finish, then I can devote a little time to learning this site and the forum stuff.
  5. Ok I think I have a good handle on Facebook and Artfire, now lets tackle leatherworker.net

  6. I thought I had added text, mmmm. This will have to do til I figure this out. [
  7. Great minds think alike, but not having a lathe I tool the low tech route. I made a similar tool. But I used hard wood dowel cut to a disk and used the screw end demel post used for the buffer material. Once the disk was on I used a round file of the appropriate width to make my groove. Sanded smooth/ I attach my dremel/flexible shaft handle to the bench edge using those U shaped spring clips for brooms. I can orient my dremel veritcally or horizontally. /quote]
  8. I like it. the matching jetted pockets and button holes are pretty advanced for a first project. Envy your having a teacher. I have yet to find a mentor.

I have been commissioned to duplicate a very old belt and add 2 inches to the length. I am always afraid to ask for what I think the work warrants, any hints for not pricing myself out of the work?

Hi Laura, I struggle with pricing, too. For some things I've told people what it is worth, then offer a "newbie discount" since I'm still learning and it may have flaws. But knowing what things are worth is another issue.

  10. welcommmmmmmmme to the site
