  1. I just spent a couple hundred bucks on half a cow. And I go through a couple cows a year......but I cut it up into small pieces (generally 2" or smaller) and use it to test the stamps I sell. I only used veg tanned or tooling leather. So instead of spending the cash, I thought it might be a good idea to see if anyone has alot of scrap leather they don't know what to do with or plan to get rid of. I would say, no smaller than 2" x 2" but preferably 4" x 4" or bigger. Unfinished veg tanned and no dye. In exchange, I would make you a custom delrin leather embossing die with a retail value of say, anywhere from $35 to a few hundred dollars, depending on the size you need. Possibly, including the artwork if you are vector challenged. Attached are pictures of a few stamps I made this week. If you are interested in something like this, please send me a private message. Thanks! Steve
  2. I have a good customer who commissioned this stamp, but who had to back out for personal reasons after I had made it, so I'm looking to sell it. It measures 4.25" x 2.75" and I'm selling it for $120. Obviously, if you like the design but want a different size, I would be happy to make one for you. If interested, please e-mail me at: EmbossingDieCompany@gmail.com Thanks for looking! Steve
  3. Just wanted to post a reminder that I offer any leatherworker a FREE "Made in America" or "Made in U.S.A." stamp in widths from 0.5" up to 2". Simply purchase it through my Etsy store here: https://www.etsy.com...p_home_active_1 Please note that Etsy requires a minimum charge of $0.20 and there is a $5 shipping fee. Thanks!
  4. Hi Rob, I make custom stamps......but unfortunately not for under $20. But if you're in a pinch, please feel free to get in touch. Thanks! Steve
  5. Hi Forester, I made that stamp. I do ship internationally. Feel free to send me an e-mail (EmbossingDieCompany@gmail.com) and I would be happy to make one for you. Thanks! Steve
  6. Has anyone worked with Muskin? It's a leather like material made from mushrooms. I'm just wondering if it can be stamped/embossed.
  7. Hi Dwight, If you want a custom one made, send me an e-mail at: EmbossingDieCompany@gmail.com Steve
  8. Really Nick? You had to hijack my thread? Not cool.
  9. Do you need a large custom stamp for leather patches? Send me a message (EmbossingDieCompany@gmail.com) and I would be happy to make it for you!
  10. You can also have custom sets made with any font and any size. Send me a message if interested.
  11. It's a great idea, but it's only as good as the money you have to enforce the copyright. Although the 5-10 stampmakers on here would likely agree to honor the copyright, you KNOW that someone, somewhere would find an unsuspecting stampmaker to reproduce the stamp.
  12. Now that the Confederate Flag has pretty much been banned everywhere from Amazon to Walmart, I thought that I would set up a listing for this 2" wide stamp......it's $40.....and if you want a different size, just let me know.
  13. I made one too many of these, so I'm looking to sell it at a discount. It measures 1.5" x 1.5". Normally, I would sell this for $35 but I'll let it go for $20. If you would like to buy it, please e-mail me at: EmbossingDieCompany@gmail.com Paypal only. Thanks!
  14. I make alot of makers marks, and IMHO I think the two most important things are that 1) it is legible and 2) using the info on it, someone can Google the info and find you. Some people want to include the entire text of War and Peace on their stamp........and it can be done.......however, if someone needs a magnifying glass to read it, then that isn't very effective. And until you develop your brand well enough such that everyone recognizes your mark (think Nike swoosh or Coach "C's"), then you better include enough info on it so that people can Google it to find you. For example, maybe "Airth" is enough since it is unique or maybe there is another Airth in London, so adding Colorado may be necessary. Just my 2 cents.
  15. I thought some of you might enjoy this video featuring a leatherworker making belts in a river: http://www.aol.com/maderighthere/ And for any new LW members, if you want a free "Made in the USA" or "Made in America" embossing die, you can get it here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/205327932/free-embossing-die?ref=shop_home_active_1

  18. Hi Austin, I can help you out. Can you e-mail your design to me (CustomMadeStuff@gmail.com)? Thanks! Steve
  19. I make larger stamps all the time and I test them on the 1 ton harbor freight arbor press and I get a perfect impression every time. I'm attaching a few pictures as examples. The key is to start in the middle and then press it multiple times (it still takes less than a minute to do the whole stamp). The attached drawing kind of illustrates how to do a large oval die....the blue squares are 1" x 1" and represents where you should press. The key is to have your leather on a "baseplate" that you can slide around under the ram.
  20. I ran across this old Kickstarter for a leatherworker making "threadless and glueless" leather tablet covers, wallets, etc: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pact/pact-threadless-glueless-timeless-leather-cases/posts I assume there are patterns out there that involve folding and braiding the leather so that no glue or stitching is required.......can anyone provide me a link to a free one? Does anyone have an opinion about folded/braided items? .
  21. I ran across this on Instructables today and thought someone on here might find it useful: http://www.instructables.com/id/3rd-Hand-Leather-Stitching-Clamp/
  22. Thanks!!! I found plenty of different tutorials.
