  1. I am planning on making a set of grips for a bicycle i am making. The plan is to cover the bars with 1/8 or 1/4 inch closed cell foam then cover that with what i have witch is 6 or 7 oz leather that i have used to make a couple of holsters with. The grips will be stained with usmc black i would like to add fringe on the ends ( the seams will be laced with black).. My questions are what should i lace with ( the lacing book i have does not cover laceing a round object, what should the fringe be made out of and what would be the best way to attach it the the end (i am thinking a hole at he end), and what finish will is best . Any help would be great Thank you
  2. I forgot to thank you in my last post
  3. Twin oaks you have been a big help, the other post was helpful. If i can ask you one more question. I have the bottom tesion as tight as it gets and the stiches are looking good,if i loosen up on the bottom tension do i tighten or loosen the top tension?
  4. Thank you Twin oaks. I checked the things you suggested and all was well, i tried makeing the adjustments there was no change. Here are a couple of pics that i hope help.
  5. Some how my machine got out of correct tension. My stiches are to tight on the top leaving roll ball like thread spots on the bottom of the project. I have tried what the manual says and nothing is workng. I have been at it for over an hour, what is the problem????
  6. I just got a new softball mit and it is really stiff. What do i use to soften it up to make it easier to open and close????
  7. When and why would I neatsfoot oil a project? I have only heard of using neatsfoot oil as a conditioner, long after the project has been in use. Please enlighten me on the use of neatsfoot oil (is it used to harden leather??)
  8. This might be in the wrong spot, I am not sure. Has anyone made cases and or carry straps for dslr cameras?
  9. I saw this and thought I could do that ( they do not have a case long enough for my lens its 9inches). http://www.skytoptrading.com/ My first issue is what thickness of leather to use? I am thinking 7 to 8 oz. It is what i have and i can double it to get it nice and stiff for the lens and back sections. The removable piece (over the body of the camera) and the lens cap area single layer of 7/8. I have a Boss to do the stitching with. I have not done a project were a semicircle gets attaches to a flat. I am not sure how to make such a tight bend? I would like to know your approach to this project and if anyone has ever done something like this.. Thank you
  10. I will second that (those a re some freaken nice holsters) What thickness is the holster made from and how do you get such nice crisp shape of the weapon, I have never gotten any thing that crisp.
  11. Gary. I sent you a pm. I think i did it right. If i did not Thank You Very Much for the information
  12. What lenght of strap for a given lenght of belt (is there a chart): were to start the first hole on the tongue: How far apart to space the holes: How do you fasten the ends of the belt keeper together. My brother asked me to make him a belt he has a 34 inch waist, there has got to be a better way then wrapping a belt lank around him and saying does that look good.
