  1. No I hide the outside button in the lining so I have more room on the front of the spur strap to tool. I came up with this style about 3 years ago and everyone of my customers love them. I use to put a tab on the backside to hold the button, they just did not hold up. The straps total out at 11-13 oz and the heaviest is the lining with 4 oz on the front.

Just curious but shouldn't there be a hole on the other side too?

  2. Sorry, this was a multiple picture upload so I have not found out how to go back and add a title. But these are spur straps for one of my good friends. Hope this helps.

They look nice, but what are they? I'm not being funny, I'm from NYC and I have not got a clue what they are.

I find most of the pics posted don't have any description and think it would be nice to have a few words about what it is we're looking at.

  3. This is my favorite finish to use, I start off applying be natural saddle oil on the leather, after this soaks in I will apply a clear top coat ( I use the sheridan resist by bee natural also). I then apply feibings sheridan brown paste antique finish, and then apply another coat of the top coat. The only thing you have to do with the past is apply heavy and wipe off the excess quickly before the paste dries. I apply the paste with a damp sponge and then use damp paper towels to wipe off the excess. This give you a great two tone finish with a dark background and really makes the tool marks and cuts POP!!! Hope this helps all. Sorry it took so long to respond.

I'm with Tiller. New to the art and haven't been able to get any of my carvings to turn out with that type finish. Any tips?
