  1. Actually, the Tandy in San Bruno (closest Tandy store for me) hasn't had classes for about a year. Which is too bad because I just started dabbling in leathercrafting a few months ago. I went to the east bay to check out the Union City store a few weeks back and got excited when I learned about the classes they were offering. So I showed up last Saturday the 20th for carving an braiding classes only to find out they were cancelled at the last minute because the regional manager showed up and decided the store was a mess so he started doing an inventory and used the class area for that. He didn't indicate how soon the classes would resume but i hope it will be soon. I haven't found any leathercrafting meet ups in the area, but if you find one or start one, please let me know! Jessi
  2. A friend of mine recommend using Faber-Castell PITT Artist Brush Pens because the India Ink is permanent and light fast. I have tried it on a few small projects and am pretty happy with the result (still need to be careful when adding super shene to not smear any excess ink). I have also tried it on finished garment leather (not the super glossy kind) and was surprised at the (good) result.
  3. Interesting point about how long I'd waited. It was ~24 hours this morning when it looked so dark (but felt dry). To my amazement, when I got home from work this evening after a very long day... it was notably lighter! Now I feel silly for asking the question. Since I am new to this I don't have a routine down pat -- I am working on small projects so both for the testing and actual project, I used a wool dauber, and applied it in a circular fashion, but I may have been more liberal with amount of dye I applied on the real project than when I did the test. I guess consistency will come with time and practice.
  4. Hi, I am new to leatherwork and managed to get my pieces too dark on the second application. I haven't applied any finishing coats yet, and was wondering if I can lighten it up at this point. I had dyed a scrap piece of the same leather a few days earlier and was satisfied with the result. But I am new at this and don't have a routine/rhythm down yet, and somehow ended up with a darker shade the second time around when working on the actual project. I used Tandy's Eco-Flow Deep Violet dye. Any tips/suggestions are very much welcomed! Thanks, Jessi
