  1. Hi All, I'm making my first pair of sandals. Been in the leather business for years but this is my first attempt at anything for the feet sandals. Any suggestions on where to get brass and copper cobbler tacks? (Flat head, 3/8") Also, any suggestions on best cobbler supplies in general (quality/cost) is much appreciated. This is a commission job for a client but I'm meeting with a shoe maker to make them right, and I'll likely make more if all goes well so I'm willing to invest in the right supplies for long term Thanks in advance for your help!!! Hannah

  3. Thanks so much guys!! I'll give it a go and let you know how it goes!! I keep trying to post photos of the original/smudged version of this wallet from my phone but I keep getting a "your photo is too big" message.... I'll work on that too;)
  4. Hi all. I posted this question on the wrong board.. so I'm trying it here: I'm working on a custom wallet project with a splattered dye job on the leather and I need to know the best black dye to use that will stay put on the leather (and not run over time) as well as the best sealant to protect the splatters from running together and/or rubbing off. Since this leather will be used for a wallet, it'll get a lot of use and needs to be well sealed. FYI, the dyes I've tried so far are: 1)Fiebings Black Leather Dye 2) Even tried Fiebings Edge Kote for a more opaque look. The sealants I've tried are: 1) Fiebings Acrylic Resolene (I've tried rubbing this on gently but it makes the splatter spots run) 2) Bowling Alley Wax (I've used this for years on belts and such but it's not protecting the splatter spots over time. They all blend into the leather making it look dirty...) Thank for your help!!

  6. Thank you! What brand of pro dye do you suggest?
  7. Ooooh! Lovely! Do you treat the surface afterwards? If so, what sealant do you like best?
  8. Hey guys, Curious what paint is best used for painting on leather jackets. I have a client who wants me to do this and I've never done it before.... Thanks!
  9. Hey All!! I posted this a while ago and got no feedback. Maybe I didn't do it right? Anyway, still need some guidance.... 11. Thank so much guys! All of this info is helpful. I've always just used Feibings Leather Cement, but the rug I'm making with leather tiles needed something stronger & more flexible. I'll give the contact cement a go! Thanks again.
  12. Curious if there's another suggestion for one I can use indoors w/ less fumes? I have 2 studios, one has ventilation and the other doesn't...
  13. Great! Thanks. Is this good for the smaller accessories as well?
  14. Does anyone know what Hemes & brands of that caliber use for adhering leather before stitching bags, watchbands, belts...?
  15. Hi all, I'm curious what the best leather adhesives/cements are. I make custom leather bags, accessories (belts, cuffs....) and some miscellaneous pieces like wall hangings and leather tile rugs. I'm curious which adhesives/cement people are using and for what. There are a ton to choose from. Could I get some suggestions for what I might use for larger projects like leather tile rugs and wall hangings and what I should use for smaller stuff like leather cuffs and bags... Any advice on the best brands/suppliers would be so appreciated!!
