  1. Ah, should have said, also looking for any preferences out there. Abbey will be helpful I am quite sure but it's unfair to ask them which is best, they're all products they sell after all
  2. Hi folks, wanting to get some better adhesive for my projects and the Abbey store have three different ones that I'm trying to decide between. 125/A Contact Adhesive - "rubber solution in solvent base" 440 Contact Adhesive - no additional information 949 Neoprene Contact Adhesive - "neoprene contact adhesive" Given Abbey's proclivities toward giving little to no information (they are a trade site after all) I turn to the fine folks of the leatherworker forum to educate me a little. Help?
  3. Hi folks, I've got a project I'm working on (small document case) and the client asked for undyed leather. It'll clearly need to be protected but test pieces with my usual favoured Fiebings leather balm left horrible streak darkened watermarks. I was thinking that a good quality dubbin well worked in would provide the splash resistance I'm looking for without discolouring the leather, or at least do so in a consistent fashion. Any thoughts? Experience? Cautionary tales? Many thanks.
  4. Hi folks, As one of the newbies, I was curious: I've read a lot of the advice for new people, which tools to buy and so forth, but what of the less obvious things. The stuff that isn't technically "leatherworking tools" but is darned handy to have around a leatherworking workshop So I ask of you, what are the little things that you use all the time to make your lives easier or to get a cleaner result. Figured the sharing might even give experianced folks new ideas (As an example, from other crafts, I've seen muffin tins used as casting molds for metal ingots, kitchen scales used as an easier and more accurate measure for mixing A+B style resins, crumpled tin foil as rust removal, etc) You've been a wealth of information so far. Looking forward to perusing the galleries for inspiration
