  5. Thank you for all your advice this was really helpful, I read it multiple times. I bought some decent tools from leathercrafttools.com I think will get the job done, 1-5mm round hole punch, 4 and 5 mm oval punch, and a 35mm english point strap end punch. I can't really invest in multiple sides of bridle to cut from ATM so I'm going to go with buying some 1 1/4" straps from buckleguy where I'll also get my hardware. Anyone know If I go with heel bar buckles will I have enough material left at the end of my straps to make keepers from? They're 55-60" long.
  6. Anyone know what size oblong punch and belt hole punch I'll need?
  7. Hello, I'm interested in starting to make some belts and wondering if anyone can give me the run down on the basic tools I'll need. Not planning on doing any stitching to these. I have an older table mounted Osborne 86 skiver, strap cutter, edging and burnishing tools... - I will need an oblong punch / slot punch? multiple sizes? - Hole punch for rivets/chicago screws? and belt holes? size? - Strap End Punch, do these work on most width straps? Anything else? Thanks
  8. Would you point me in the direction where I can find some by chance? I'm looking for a black / grey pepper colour
  9. Wow that's awesome I might have to try that.
  10. Hi all, I'm trying to design a camera strap for my girlfriend who is a photographer but I'm having trouble deciding on what material to line it with that will be comfortable for long periods of time. I really like the look of grey wool but I think it will be too scratchy on the neck...
  11. I'm not sure if Mr King has an account on these forums or will read this but thank you for making such high quality tools. I've been using a cheap chinese edge beveler I got off amazon up until today when my new Barry King 00 arrived and I don't know how I ever got by without this thing. I've been edging pieces of scrap for hours just to marvel at how sharp it is and how uniform a bevel it makes, not to mention how beautiful a tool it is! I'm a proud owner of a lot of high quality tools but this is easily the best upgrade I've ever made. The cocobolo wood and the finish on it are top notch also.
  12. Hey all, haven't posted here in a while and I thought you might like to see my latest project. This one was ordered by a friend of my GF who owns a photo/videography company. He requested I add a couple SD card slots for him to keep them from getting lost.
  13. I have a few hides from them on the way, I'm not sure if they will be willing to do any more small orders for me after this "samples" order and their minimum quantity for orders is like 50 square meters. They also do not accept any form of online or credit card payment so you have to do a bank transfer/remittance which usually has a fee attached. They answered all my emails in a timely manner though, I think it helps a lot of the time if you have business with a legitimate website for tanneries like theirs to take you seriously.
  14. I have a set of Amy Rokes and they are pretty awesome, the teeth came completely polished and they have a nice weight to them. The wait time to get them was 3-4 weeks when I ordered mine though, it might be more now
  15. Unfortunately the last couple times they've shipped me something to Canada it was about $50+ shipping for a single shoulder
  16. Thanks, I've actually been having a pretty hard time getting a nice even coat on my edges
  17. This was very cool to watch, especially because I just began adventuring into strap making. Good job
  18. Hey Matt I bought my black paint from you but I need some light brown, the brown you have is a bit too dark for me unfortunately. Also a single 250ml bottle shipped to Canada was like $60CAD from Giardini so that wasn't an option. I ended up having to go with the regular brown and white to mix it with from fine leatherworking. Anyone know what type of paint they carry? it didn't say. I'll be interested to know when you've increased your range of colors from them because shipping from Italy is bananas...
  19. I think your problem is just low quality thread honestly, or you're the hulk, because I've never snapped a thread when stitching lol. But I've only ever used Ritza 25 and fil au chinois which are arguably the best money can buy. If you're using thread that breaks that easily than it doesn't speak well for the quality of the thing you're making right?
