  1. Where is the brake pad in the moter located? I didn’t know they had brake pads in them!
  2. Workmanship is phenomenal. What is it used for?
  3. I really love the front of this bag. Job well done!
  4. oh wow I just took a look at it. It reminds me of a soft flexible raw hide. I would like to see a final product made with some of it.
  5. I have 3 machines. cobra class 4 , a cobra post bed and a techsew 2700 along with my skiver, laser cutter and various fabric sewing machines. Im into leather and woodworking so my shop has a table saw, miter saw, jointer, planer, lathe, 14 in bandsaw, sanders, grinders , hand tools etc. Im not new to the game. I was just wondering and asking a question . What if I came across a good deal on a machine and wanted to make some adjustments? Or what if I LIKE to tinker on the side? I was just asking the question because 9 times out of 10 if you're thinking it someone else is too and may be too afraid to ask because people make you feel stupid.
  6. I have wondered is it possible to create a sort of "Frankenstein" industrial leather machine to your own specifications. For instance if I I want 2 tensioners on my machine that only has one can I buy a double tensioning assembly and add it? Can I do things that will make my machine take larger thread than what it was initial designed to take? ive done things like add more powerful motor, slowed them down with speed reducer , installed needle positioners , lasers etc. But can you do things like even change the type of needles your machine takes or increase your bobbin case size to accommodate the larger bobbins? Or how about this has anyone ever just built their own machine kind of like people do with computers?
  7. I have needle positioner on my machines with brushless servo motors and speed reducers and they work just fine. Im running a class 4, cobra 5510 and a techsew 2750 all have speed reducer pullies installed under the table. Doesn't affect the needle positioner at all. I wonder is it the brand you have or something. I just bought the cheap needle positioner on amazon and installed myself. Another thing I always hear is that if you have a cobra and don't include the needle positioner with initial purchase you will have to buy a new motor. That wasn't true for me either . My moter controller had the buttons for needle up and down so I figured I would buy one positioner and just see if it would work and it did. Ive found most of the accessories sold by the big companies are way over priced . They are getting them from China just like you can and install it yourself.
  8. Where can I find rocky aussies needle plate?
  9. Hello my fellow leather enthusiasts! I was wondering if anyone uses a more refined, distinguished or unique title for what we do as leather crafters or workers.
  10. Thanks for the list of the many Tandy alternatives! Hadn't heard of some of them. Happen to live a few miles from a local Tandy so sometimes its just convenience that sends me there. Have ordered a couple of times with Springfield and am very pleased. Their shipping rate is very reasonable also.
  11. can you elaborate more on the difference in using a cheap creaser vs a quality one? Is the end result a lot different?
  12. can anyone tell me what this knob controls?
  13. no success yet yin tx. i wish could bend the lever that cowboy bob is suggesting but the screws are on soo tight i can't move them.
  14. Tension release only happens slightly when raising pressure foot. Upon looking I can see that the pin #20 from diagram above does not do what it supposed to do to release the disks. I understand what constubalary is describing. I can put my finger behind the plate #10 and push the lever forward and make it work manually but it doesn't when using the foot pedal or when completely raising the pressure foot. I need something to make that long tension pin 20 push out more . I will try to figure out what constubalary is saying to do because it seems he is right on track to what the problem is.
  15. How easy is it for you to pull your leather off machine when you're finished sewing ? My tension release does not work when I have the pressserfoot up . I was wondering if anybody else with same machine had same problem. I windup rethreading the machine all the time because I have to cut the thread close in order to remove project.

    love love love this!
  17. yes i have had jams and that is usually when it comes out of time. not big jams but just something that is cleared by cutting the thread and pulling out. Ive never broken a needle or anything like that. thats why I'm so frustrated. I don't think these types of jams should be throwing the machine out of time . also i notice when i lift my pressure foot up the tension disk don't move apart so that thread is easily pulled away. it takes a very strong pull even when it is supposed to be easy. could that have something to do with why my machine operates so poorly? i lost a business partner over this machine. she was so frustrated she doesn't want to do this anymore. so since i am the veteran sewer i brought the machine to my home (because i knew she just didn't know what she was doing) huh its giving me just as much trouble only i refuse to give up. I've watched countless videos and taught myself how to adjust timing. Is there any difference on quality of machines even if they all are clones? for instance will you have less trouble out of a cowboy, consew or juki all made alike? do the more well known brands use better parts than say my Techsew?
  18. i purchased a brand spanking new techsew 2700 back in April of this year (less than 6 months ago) .I was wondering if anyone could help or give me any tips on dealing with this incredibly finicky machine. Every time i have the slightest issue such as thread break the machine is thrown out of time and i have to readjust the hook timing. then i get it back to sewing and i have to be very careful and sew at the slowest speed and with only 69 or 92 thread or I'm in for trouble. i have tried everything i know to try to get it to sew 138 thread. i tried increasing needle size to 22 with the leather needle, lengthening stitch length and also using 92 in bobbin. nothing works. the machine is advertised at being able to sew 138 thread. I'm using no more than 2 layers of 4-5 ounce vegetan. most of the time its only one layer of vegetan and one layer of an exotic skin (thin) . I am sooooooo frustrated. Has anyone found that there is a difference in quality of the "clones" i just want to sew . i want to be able to change thread size with out being afraid . i want to not have to put this thing back in time so much. i feel like a mechanic now . I've been sewing for more than 30 years and i have never thrown a machine out of time.
