  1. Thank you for the information . . .

Really . . . I'm just interested in engraving wood and leather . . . if it would use patterns to cut out blanks for leather projects . . . yeah . . . I could go for that too.

It's proposed job work though would be simple decoration.  I'm thinking of Bible Covers . . . belts . . . holsters . . . with absolute personal type decoration.

I did a black belt with purple butterflies on it for a niece who made me promise to never do another one for anyone else.  Been hanging onto that promise.

    But anyway . . . I'll check those guys out . . . thanks again.

BTW . . . whereabout in KY?  My first home as a squalling crib rat was in Carter Co . . . near Olive Hill.

    May God bless,

    Dwight

      I'm in Frankfort -

I'll try to post a pic of some of the leather stuff I've done. Most of it's on my phone and I use a PC for forums such as this.

  2. Did you sell your sewing machine?

  3. You're welcome, Sheilajeanne . . . I didn't say so on my post . . . but I had to re-make a couple of expensive holsters before I figured out what was going on . . . and believe me . . . I was not a happy camper.

I go to a store here, Harbor Freight, and buy their little cheap bristle brushes . . .  I guess they're paint brushes . . . or maybe cleaning brushes . . . wooden handle, bristle hair . . . about 50 cents apiece.  I dip one in the neatsfoot oil . . . and just wet the hair side of the leather . . . evenly all over . . . hang it up and leave it for at least 24 hours . . . and by then it usually is very very close to the original color before you oiled it.

Then just dye as you usually do . . .  which for me is dip dye . . . shake . . . wipe with paper towel to get rid of puddles . . .

Have fun . . . may God bless,

    Dwight

  4. That's one beautiful saddle . . . you are a credit to the industry.

  5. Hey, Dink, . . . if I understood correctly from one of the threads on here, . . . you make clicker dies.

I need one for a key fob.  Have you ever made one for a key fob?

I'm thinking like 1 1/2 circles connected by a curved edge bridge, . . . folded in half, becomes a key fob.

If you do this, what would you charge me for one that is open, . . . definitely not the wooden top type.

    Thanks, may God bless,

  6. byggyns, . . . you said you took a holster class in central Ohio, . . . where was that and who was the instructor?  Just curious..........

It was at the Tandy in Columbus on Morse Rd. The store manager - whose name escapes me right now - was the one who taught the class. It was a few years ago when they did only 2 long sessions on Saturdays for the class. I think they break it up more now and do 4 shorter sessions.

We designed 2 holsters, and made 1, but I think they now make 2 during the class.

  7. You probably won't, . . . but if you do run out of wax you want to sell, . . . give me a holler, I'll put a post up.

I just finished my robbing for the year, . . . will have extra wax when it is all over.

    May God bless,

    Dwight

All in all, . . . I got 10 qts of honey, . . . and maybe 2 lbs of extra wax,  I put some of the comb in the jars, that is the way the family likes it.

Honey crop was really good tasting this year.

      May God bless,

I have a wooden model I used for the last Smith 29 holster I made, . . . the guy loved it.

    You're welcome to either come up and we'll make it together, . . . borrow the model, . . . however I can help, . . . just holler.

I would like to take you up on your offer to help with the holster pattern and to talk to you about the Tippman I have one but have never had much luck using it .

  9. Ky PI, . . . whereabouts in Eastern Ky are you???

I regularly stop in with the family around Olive Hill and Morehead.

My paternal family hometown is Salyersville, . . . course being a Salyer at birth, . . . ain't no wonder.

    May God bless,

  10. HarryB, . . . I would possibly be interested in a couple of these conchos.

What kind of price do you have for them?

    Thanks, may God bless,

    Dwight

  11. Hey, Mike, . . . glad to see you back. Don't tell my you are still trying to hold that cat and the dust buster, . . . I'd hoped you had given up on that :)

If you ever figure out how to shoot one of those micro .45's, . . . put the secret in a box and ship it to me, . . .

    I can defend myself with it, I'm sure, . . . but we're talking inside the proverbial 21 feet, . . . outside of that, . . . ummmmmmm, who knows?

    May God bless,

Hi there Dwight. The last 3-4 months have been a trial. Got pneumonia -- again but hadn't been feeling quite right for some time before that. My doc got me on a prescription that knocked the bug but, again, I was still  feeling weak and puny. He finally found that I was one of the 3% or so that will have a nasty reaction after using one of my blood pressure meds for a prolonged period of time. Now, after about 2 1/2 months off of the stuff I'm feeling like myself again -- just a bit older and slower, which my son had to remind me of  on my birthday. Saw my doc today and everything is looking good, even got the OK for cataract surgery in a week or so. I'm with you on the mini .45s and no matter what, even a Govt. mod doesn't do half as well as my Smith M-24 3inch in .44 special. The drawback is that it's bulky. Good to hear from you. Thanks.  Mike

Whoa, . . . sorry to hear about that pneumonia thing.  I was too young to remember the times I had it as a kid, . . . hear tell it is no fun though.

Been there, done that with the BP medicine though, . . . found a book by ol' Doc Adkins, . . . took his advice, . . . lost almost 40 pounds, . . . found out I did NOT need them after I lost the weight.  My problem was the bottom number, . . . wanted to be above 90 and my doctor had a hissey fit.  Never did get along good with any of the meds anyway, . . . made me check the ol' doc out.

Still have to watch the weight, . . . careful of he pies, cakes, cookies, etc.

Your son sounds like mine, . . . always reminding me that I ain't 30 any more.  But we are both fortunate to have sons who care enough to get after us.

Good luck on that cataract surgery, . . . let us know when it is, . . . we'll get you on the church prayer list.

      May God bless,

      Dwight

  13. Only 75 more days until spring, . . . yeaaaaaaa

  14. If you are driving 90 miles to Ft Wayne or Singsing-a-natty, . . . you ought to hit our store in Columbus one time. Scott and Jeff are gearing up for their big Black Friday sale where there will be bunches of stuff on sale for good prices.

    May God bless,

    Dwight

  15. Sorry, Ann,

  16. Ann, I have to go to town today, will be gone most of the day, but if you will email me both pictures I'll take a look at it.

Usually when I have done this in the past, it helps to have several different ones to choose from, so keep that in mind.

Also, if the pictures themselves are bigger than 2.5 megs, send them one at a time.

    Send them to ciminod@midohi...

  17. Steve, would you mind sharing your tree maker's name? I really like the way the seat sets up.

That really is one beautiful saddle, hope the cowboy enjoys it for a long time.

    May God bless,

    Dwight
