Thanks Jimi. I only suspected that's what the rod (extractor) is for. I'll try it after the new bell knife arrives. I just reassembled the machine. Do let me know if you find the video on it. I would love to watch it. Thanks for the video as well. That's the one I watched to disassemble the machine. So far, it still skives but the feed roll seems to be coming in contact with metal cover, most probably due to the rubber gasket thing. Any chance you would be able to advise on the other issues as well?

4) Also, do I need to replace the rubber joint for the feed roller?

Just purchased a FAV AV1 skiving machine and trying to service it. 1) Does any one know whether this is normal for the feed roller and the cap covering it? 2) What oil and grease should be used? 3) How do I remove the bell knife to replace it? Manual indicates that there will be 4 screws but there's only one.
