  1. Hello Shoepatcher

I have aquired a Singer 29K58 from a local auction. According to the repair shop it is missing the shuttle, bobbin and maybe the carier. The shop said everything is now free and working but they need the missing parts to finish repairs.

I have found a manual for the 29K71 but not the 29K58 and Amazon seems to indicate the shuttle type is large. But from some post online it is a size small?

I am new to sewing machines and sewing, but spent 21 years working in the engineroom of US Navy ships so a bit technically inclined.

I charge $15.00 total plus shipping for the manual, parts list, mechanics manual an other items that you will need working on the machine.  This is for an Adler 30-1, not the 30-10 that you can get online.  Some things are different especially the parts.  I only have it in hard copy.   Send me your shipping address.  I take PayPal.  Thank you for reaching out.

ok  you are missing the spring that goes on top of the head instead of that wire looking thing, bobbin winder tire, threading wire.  Just to start.  Machine needs a good cleaning.   The pin is were they put the  rivet.  Remove the rivet, take the head off it and put pin back in there. Take all the stiff out of the oil boat on top.  Does not belong in it..

Yeah she is dirty.   It has the shuttle carrier in it and it is a genuine one.  The shuttles are $40.00 now for a genuine Simanco one and $30.00 for a generic one.  Bobbins a $1.50 each for generic ones.  I have not been able to find any new genuine ones.   I use the 135 x 17  or 16 for leather point needle systems.   I have large sizes.  Bob Kovar at Toledo Sewing has smaller sizes available in both leather and rd. point.  Shipping is extra.  The 29K58 is the same as the 29K70,71 except for a few parts manual wise.    Send me more pics of the machine please Jeff.

the 29K 58 uses the small bobbin and shuttle.  All the singer small bobbin shoepatchers use the same hook and bobbin.  The shuttle carrier is the same on a 29K58 and 70, 71.  I have original Simanco shuttle hooks and shuttle carrier.  Send me a few pics of the shuttle area of your machine.

That machine was made in the middle to late 1980's.  I had one.  Nice machine in good shape.  Need cleaning and oiling.  $1500 is a little high since it has a clutch motor.  Servo going to cost you $150-$200.00.  I would offer her $1300.00-$1350.00.    Feet, bobbins and hook still available.  Smooth running machine.

Ok  I have been repairing and building  hockey gear for over 50 years now.  The first machine you need is a medium duty walking foot cylinder arm.   You will need more than 1 machine so know that now.  You could contact me via email and then by phone.

what parts you looking for  your on your Claes?

  17. Landis 16, can you help?

I just aquired a Landis 16 machine.  A friend of mine uses one and he runs WD-40 in the two housings on the transmission/clutch/pulley driveshaft that is on the back of the machine, I don't know what else to call the large shaft.  Are there seals on that shaft?  When I fill up those housings with wd-40 it ends up slinging the oil out of the housings.  Or is it supposed to have a thicker consistency oil in them?  Any help would be appreciated.

Contact Eli  at Landis Sales in Arthur, Ill.  He is the expert on the Landis 16 and can answer those questions.  He rebuilds the machines and manufactures parts for the machine.  I have never sewn or used the machine,  Sorry.

'Ok.  That means you have a lot of wear in the gears and racks underneath.  Parts are available except the long drive rack and are expensive.  A new shuttle carrier with the drive gear on it is $240.00 and change.  There is no replacement  for the long rack.  How much wear there is on the teeth can only be determined by taking the rack out and examining it.   I would take all the items in the horn out and let's see what is worn. Only way to find out.

Remove the bobbin case  from the shuttle carrier which is the item you set the bobbin case on when  you move the throat plate out of the way.  Grab the shuttle carrier by your fingers and see  if you can move it without the machine running.  if you can move it more than 1/16 of an inch, you have wear ibn the gears and racks.

These machines will miss stitches if the rack and gears down below  have excess wear in them.   There are a couple of ways to check.

You are talking about the side tension spring on the 30-7 correct.  I want ted make sure you did not mean the retaining spring which is the one on top of the bobbin case.  I have both.  I did find the last pack of 180 leather pointed  332LL LG needles.  Let me know on the spring.  Send me your shipping address and I will get you total.

The no longer make leather pointed needles in size 180/24 system 332LL Lg for the Adler 30-7, 70 machines.  Biggest you can get is #23/160.

I might have one more pack of the # 180/24  leather point needle.  Will have to check.

You can run #207 on top but not in the bobbin.  Use #138 there.

The bobbin tension spring from a large bobbin Singer patcher will work on the bobbin case  I have both.  The tension springs run $2.50 each plus shipping.  We can put them in a regular envelope.

30-7 is earlier version of 30-70.
