I found the needle size is a big part of the tension adjustment, what size needles do you have?

I’m using these ones (140) with 138 thread. It’s supposed to handle between 120-140 but it wouldn’t sew at all with the 130s in.

  2. I have a new to me Adler 267-373, and let me preface this question with the fact that I know next to nothing about sewing machines.) I’ve looked at numerous diagrams and pictures online and I’m fairly confident that I have the machine threaded right. I cannot seem to get my stitch knot to sink into the leather. I have a very minor grasp as to how to adjust tension, but have not seen any change in the stitches when I do make adjustments. Also, when making these adjustments, my thread wants to get jammed up and then throws my timing off, forcing me to constantly reset it. It says my pictuare too large to upload but I’ll keep playing with that.

The 105-64 will be useful to you as long as you are sewing at least 1/8 inch of material with #138 or larger thread, using a #22 or larger needle. Also, your projects will have tooth marks on the bottom. If your jobs meet these minimums, the Adler may be a good investment (as long as it doesn't need expensive replacement parts).

    Thank you!

The 105-64 is a bottom feed + needle feed machine - they usually have less aggressive feed dogs compared with plain bottom feed / drop feed machines. So the marking are approx the same as on walking toot / triple feed machines.

Thank you for the additional info, that helps!

This machine has been discussed on Leatherworker.net. Use your favorite search engine to search for this term:

    site: leatherworker.net adler 105-64

Thank you but I’ve already read every thread on here regarding the machine. There actually isn’t very much info.

Although the 105-64 is a nice med-heavy duty needle feed machine, i think you would be better off looking for an Adler 69 or Pfaff 335 type machine. I am sure there are other options from other makes for this class of machine also. I personally use a Pfaff 335 for wallets, purses etc.... On the other hand if you were planning on doing belts and heavy stuff which needs a bigger needle and thicker thread, then the 105 is a very good choice. hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback! I'll check into them

    Hello

I make bags like these I think the wear depends on the way its used and your design I try to add leather accents or straps that might take some of the wear but if its a great bag and the customer loves it they will buy another just disclose that this could happen and its not a defect but something that can happen with wear.

I you would like to see the construction I am located in Washington state your welcome to come by the shop also you can see some bags on my facebook

Just found you on FB and Instagram! Your bags are super nice, and thank you for the advice. I think I’ll take your suggestion and just warn a buyer beforehand that this might not be an “every day” kind of bag and tell them how to care for it. I’d love to come by your shop sometime, I’ll have to plan a trip to your side of the state! Chelsea
