  1. I am looking at industrial high post beds and came across this Juki Model. The thread size in the manual states #30 ~ #8 (Japanese yarn count), needle size Schmetz 134-35(R). Is there a comparison for this thread size to Tex? I tried looking a conversion chart up but have been unable to find anything that says Japanese yarn count. I feel like I am missing something here and the answer is right in front of my face. Any help is appreciated. We typically use a T135 thread. Thanks again.
  2. Thanks for all the responses they have been very helpful!
  3. As hobbies often go I have found myself getting deeper into leathercraft and started branching off into making waxed canvas bags with leather handles. That being said I picked up a Consew 206rb-5 as reccommended on this site and I absolutely love this machine! I am now on the hunt to find a Overlock/Serger that can go over the edge of 15oz waxed canvas doubled up. I find the amount of models and spec dizzying and I am hoping I can rely on your wisdom to point me in the right direction. These machine also get quite expensive but I know it will be worth it since it is frustrating trying to use a home serger for this application and is close to impossible. I am open to refurbished models since that would bring the cost down, and hope to keep it in the $1000 range if possible. Thank you for your help. If you know other resources that could help me I would greatly appreciate it.
  4. Thank you all for your input. I'm checking out the Consew 206 RB-5 Wizcrafts suggested. Do you happen to know the main difference between the Consew 206RB-5 and 225? Awesome work BattleAx! We have a Cobra class 26 that meets most of our veg tan leather needs. We have it setup for that and would like a lighterweight flat bed option for waxed canvas. Smart idea kgg, it may make more sense for us to use a binding attachment. As much as I would like to get two machines my bank account will thank me to get one for both purposes. Thanks again.
  5. I know this is a leather forum and thought you may be a good resource for my industrial sewing machine question. We have been using a home machine with ok results but feel it is time to upgrade. I am wondering if there are any suggestions for what type of industrial machine you would recommend for 10 oz waxed canvas. I would need to sew through 2-6 layers of waxed canvas. Also, any specific thoughts on sergers would be greatly appreciated since we are pushing our current one to the edge. We make tote bags, dopp kits, etc.. Thank you!
  6. Thank you for the details, very helpful. It's been interesting to see different perspectives from all of you.
  7. I want to solicit feedback for our Leather goods company website. We launched just over a year ago. Quick background, my wife and I started a business off of a passion project to make high quality everyday items. I know our price points are not cheap as we are going after a high end market. We source local vegetable tanned leather from Pennsylvania and each item is designed and made by us in our Philadelphia studio. We have been capturing some sales from our website and run facebook/instagram ads as well for brand recognition. We've built up a few blog posts and an instagram account. Aside from that we have done local markets to get our products in front of people. We want to know how we can improve our website, products, marketing, etc.. and welcome constructive feedback. Thanks for your help! https://hemlockandhyde.com/
  8. That seems like a great machine but i think 7-8k is out of my price range.
  9. Hi all, I am new to the world of sewing machines and I was hoping I could count on your opinions to narrow down my options. I currently hand stitch wallets, belts, bags. The range of leather I use it between 3/4oz to 8/10oz Veg Tan Leather. The most leather I would probably be sewing is 12oz (two 5/6oz together) total with cloth lining. Some bags do have zippers in them so sewing a single layer of 3/4oz leather to put in a zipper is a must. I do prefer larger thread size of #277. I have been looking at the Cobra class 26 but have seen conflicting answers about what max thread size it will sew 207 or 277. When I reached out to Springfield leather to ask since they had 277 on their site, they said that was a mistake then changed it to 207. Which confused me a bit since I thought that I found the right machine for me. I appreciate your suggestions to help guide my search.
  10. What kind of accessories are available for the Cobra 26?
