  1. These rivets need very little pressure to set!! I initially set using hammer and never had a problem, finally could afford a press and all of a sudden started getting reports of failures, not many but just the same. My response was to twist the handle off the press, more power more secure, right? well reports of failures came in again?? went back to using a hammer and things seemed to settle down. I've since realised that applying more pressure with a press or hammer actually makes the rivets most likely to fail. Using a press with very little pressure sets them so well they only come out after tearing through the leather!!
