  1. Cheers, gentlemen. Thank you for your replies!
  2. Thanks Matt! I’m going to add an extra coat or two on next project and see if that helps. Also, forgive me in advance as I am still new to the craft, but when you say folded edge on the fabric, do you mean literally folding the fabric over onto the edge and gluing down? Because cutting a clean edge seems to be a big issue for me. Thanks again!
  3. Hey guys! I am having issues with the edges on some of the belts I am making. I’m using 8-9oz Veg-Tan glued to a thin faux-fabric liner with Barges Contact Cement. I’ve attached a picture, not a very good one. After sanding the edges with low and high grit sandpapers, burnishing, and then applying edge paint (I’ve used Fiebings Edge Kote as well as Fenice), I still can’t seem to get the edge I want. The leather portion is smooth, but the fabric portion always feels so rough. I trim the overlapping fabric as much as possible without exposing the leather on the back side. Maybe not sanding enough? Not trimming the fabric close enough? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all for what you do on this board. Cheers!
  4. Dudes, thank you so much. I was expecting some sound advice from experienced leathercrafters (which is what I got and which this site has always graciously offered), but Arrested Development fans too?!? So awesome! Tony Hale recently came to my town and spoke at the universirty. I really wish I’d had a copy of Boy Fights featuring the Baby Buster shorts for him to sign. Or even a hook Agreed on Season 4...it had its moments, but so hard to live up to Seasons 1 & 2 especially. I thought it was on par with Season 3. And as for Season 5, we’ll see! Bill and Mutt, thank you so much!
  5. Hello, I’m very much a newbie to leathercraft, and was hoping someone may be able to help me understand how to achieve the results in some of the attached photos, or at least point me in the right direction. I thought initially the tooling only consisted of some matting stamps, but it seems that there is some beveling involved as well to achieve the “raised” look. Any ideas of how this look is produced? 6. Halitech and McJeep, thank you for your replies! That background stamp definitely looks like the one used on the belts. I will check it out! Thanks again!
  7. Greetings all! Brand new to leathercraft and the forums too (N00b alert). I was hoping someone could enlighten me or at least point me in the right direction of how this particular pattern/tooling is done. I am just starting out re-leathering Championship Belts (Nerd, I know...)...And I haven't been able to figure out how the tooling is done around the snap-box (far right) of this particular belt and many others like it. Is this a kind of stamp pattern or is it done with a beveler tool, or maybe both? If anyone could shed some light, I'd be very grateful. Thank you so much! SH
