  1. Thanks for replying Wiz, I guess my research will continue minus pieces flying across the room.
  2. Excuse for jumping on this thread as I doubt Wiz woukd appreciate a new thread for my question. I'm currently have a Brother innovis 55 domestic which I've used for lightweight occasional pieces. However, I'm looking at a Brother FS210 as an alternative, woukd this still be capable rather than using my patcher.
  3. I see Dremel's Digilab laser cutter has appeared via the usual media source. Any thoughts or feedback? Improvement on the Chinese K40?
  4. I'm keen to upgrade from the basic NEJE JZ-5 model, obviously as its classed as an introduction type machine however unsure which model. The NEJE only has a 550x550 jpg software work area so increasing the area is just one priority, also the upgrade must have a good customer support along with easily available parts if required, and lastly a compact machine is preferred. Budget ideally, maximum £250/€300/$330 If anyone has suggestions or recommendations, USB powered too. I understand if my criteria is very limited, I'm prepared to increase the budget for long term investment.
  5. Just an update as I'm unsure where to put this, after a long discussion, narrowing the focus and prioritising I've decided that small leather goods repair and restoration as well as leather monogramming and engraving maybe a more practical option.
  6. From experience & I may get shot down by the expert masters. Ensure thickness of leather and rivets are compatible, I also use glue.
  7. @karlova Firstly, welcome to the forum & secondly I really like your daysack & accessories wallet, aweome. There's no better pride, well being and pride in designed, crafting and seeing the finished product.
  8. As @fredk has highlighted sourcing your suppliers within the military surplus environment can be an ongoing relentless challenge. Unsure how may governent affiliated websites are stateside however most are primarily bankrupt stock or auction job lots, and from the UK it's networked via DS&E which is part of the MOD chain, which is the British version of the US DOD. Good luck with your venture.
  9. Wednesday evening' you say? Interesting and also dangerously tempting... Thanks for the info.
  10. @Wizcrafts To be honest no, which is strange as the section is small and in it' infancy. Thanks for making a specific section though, appreciated.
  11. I recently acquired a basic laser engraver, A5 NEJE 500mw type just to see if I and the machine are user friendly and potential to possibly upgrade to an A3 size. IIRC I did previously mention on another thread trying to purchase a premium digital image catalogue which is compatible with my equipment.
  12. @dibsandthemachine Welcome to the forum, I've got family in Southfields area, and yet to my shame I've still not visited the Tandy factory. Regards

  15. Thanks for the advice, just out of curiousity what's the situation from the leathercrafters viewpoint towards 'copyright or ownership' of an individual handle. As my work is a combination of certain small accessories and periodically bespoke 'one off items' made to order only.
  16. Well, it’s good to see this thread (pun intended) flowing well & increasing with various and interesting contributions. My original old work space (the closet page 4 I think) is thankfully redundant & my new self made bench is edging towards completition (for now at least). i’ll echo @Mjolnir viewpoints on a great thread, long may it continue.
  17. Tranquil working environment, I like. @Sledzep01 nice DIY mini pony, I currently use same method.
  18. Cheers Mike, it’s one a few options I’ll certainly consider.
