Thank you for the tips! 86 rabbits is far too many rabbits. Even the 16 we have right now are too many. For little critters, they sure can eat a lot of food. Cute bracelet! My daughter is almost 5 and thankfully hasn't made any leather requests from me yet. I am buried with projects at the moment.

I will play! The old man that used to own this house had a saddle repair shop or a leather shop at some point in time. The tool box you see under the table is an antique tool box that I found in a shed that had multiple leather tools inside of it. You can imagine my excitement as I only had a very small amount of tools that I had purchased prior to moving here. I can post a pic of what was in it as soon as can find where the pic is on my computer. The tray on the left corner of my table sits inside the toolbox. I started with just using the toolbox and our dinner table. Well, I started acquiring more tools and it quickly outgrew the box and became a nuisance to pick up all my tools and current projects every night before dinner. So, hubby encouraged me to bring the table you see in the picture from stuff that the prior owner left in the back barn that is currently out of commission. It's a very solid wood table with a metal wrapped top. Perfect for hammering on as there is zero bounce. It's not as nice as some of the other setups that have been shown, but I am content with it for now. It allows me to keep an eye on my youngest kiddo while working. Besides, I loved watching the snow fall outside through all the big windows on the north end of my house, wood burning stove crackling to the right of me, and a glass of whiskey on the rocks. Not a bad work environment!

Lol. Yes, we have a lot in common. It's a long story with the rabbits, but we acquired 23 of them to be exact and had never owned rabbits up to that point. We butchered 6 at first and didn't save any pelts because I wasn't sure how to tan them. We are going to butcher about 6 more soon and I will probably freeze the pelts, since I still don't know how to tan pelts. lol The rest of the rabbits are for breeding new show stock for now. Have you used the pelts for anything before?

Welcome! I could have written your post word for word almost. I am 39 and have no ducks, but I match you on everything else. I too want to learn all the things and do all the things right now. I am having to learn more patience as I unfold into this craft. I am even having to learn patience for not getting to practice and create nearly as often as I want. There is so much to learn and the only way to do so is to practice, study, practice, ask questions, practice, post pictures of your projects, and practice some more. Did I mention practice? I found that when I finally just jumped in and got started that I learned far more that way. So my advice is to just get started. What kind of rabbits do you have? We have Rex.

Wow! I disappear for a couple of days and the party goes on without me. My type of people! Lol I am the queen of multi-tasking, note that I didn't say master. I would venture to say that it might not be helping the whole focus thing that is kinda necessary when learning new things. Such is life!

That is kinda what I was thinking of doing with it. I wouldn't necessarily toss it anyway. I still have hours of tooling practice ahead of me and am about to add dying to my practice sessions. I create better practice pieces when I am using quality leather. lol

All of you guys have honestly made me feel so much better. I would love for all of you to tell me that I will quit making mistakes as my skill level increases, but I have a feeling that as I overcome and master certain mistakes, I will just come up with new ones. lol

Haven't redone it yet would be the keywords. lol I know that I would have let it go at first too and then it would have eaten at me enough that I had to fix it. I am so glad to see that I am not the only one making silly mistakes. Sure hope that I outgrow some of the mistakes soon. If I had $1.00 for everything I have cut wrong so far, I could at least replace the leather that I messed up yesterday. lol Speaking of leather, time to order more. Sigh.

Lucky? I would say so! I am going to hold onto the lefty one in the event someone needs it in the future. As for the righty that I messed up, I will either come up with a way to fix it and use it as a learning experience, or I am going to use it for tooling practice. Either way, it is all a learning experience. Or so I tell myself. lol

I am beginning to believe that I attended school on the day of measure once and cut twice. Working on a different sheath today. It's a right handed sheath and I made sure to label my pattern as to avoid cutting it for a lefty. Don't ask me how I know. I cut it the first time. Thankfully it was cut for a righty, so I had that going for me. Then I realized that I cut the belt loop portion too short. Grr. No biggie. I cut another one. Make sure that I adjust and cut the belt loop larger this time. Awesome. I sand out imperfections on the edges, then bevel, and crease what needs creasing. Meanwhile I am impressed with how much my time and work is improving. I honestly can't believe how fast it's all coming together. Then it happens. I start folding it together to make sure that it is all good. Everything looks great until I realize it is for a lefty. Doh!! So yes folks. I have now cut two sheaths out of my pretty piece of Hermann Oak that I can't use just yet. Hey, look at that. It's 5 o'clock....

As for this deal, I call it a God thing. Just happened to spot it on Fb 30 minutes after it was posted and was lucky enough to be second in line. Doesn't happen often for me, but when it does I have to give credit where credit is due.

Thank you for helping me figure out what the one tool was. I had no idea that it was a stapler. lol Ever heard of Todd Hadley brand? I have seen people talk of the older Tandy stamps and say that they were a good quality before. I remember seeing a thread on here too about how to determine the age of the Tandy tools and now I don't remember where I saw it.

Thank you! I was pretty excited when the woman selling the stuff told me that the person before me flaked. I had originally thought that one of the alphabet sets was a repeat of a set I already bought. Found out when I got home that it wasn't, so now I have four sets. Haven't used any yet, but I am sure that I will soon.

I had to come share! Saw a leather tool lot go up for sale on Facebook last night. I was told this morning that they were pending sale, and as it turns out, the person flaked. So of course I jumped on it. I do want to build up to quality tools, but couldn't pass this deal up. The lady bought all this stuff from Tandy around 30 years ago, so maybe the stuff is better quality than I realize. All told, there are 41 tooling stamps and everything else pictured, with the exception of the hole punch her husband couldn't let go of. lol I did good, right?

I am not sure if I am more impressed with your leather skills or your photography skills. lol Love the color combos and your burnishing is beautiful!
