  1. Jim, Thanks for the mug wrap pattern. I really like the look, did you block dye the mug wrap? ta2r
  2. This is listed for sale in my area. My question is; would this be a good starter machine for making wallet interiors, some hand bags and maybe even chaps? "WHITE "SewEasy Delux" heavy duty semi-industrial machine with walking foot, just been serviced. This "working horse" takes LEATHER, JEANS, CANVAS, VINYL and regualr fabrics EASY!!!. Good for alteratons. upholstery and home projects. Runs smooth. Comes with foot control cord. " $135.00 There is no model or serial # yet, but I have requested the info.
  3. I will send you a pm. I'm interested, and it will be a challenge. ta2r
  4. Here are a couple of roper wallets that I've done. The Texas Long Horn theme was a christmas gift to my step-son and was one of my "from scratch" creations, it was the first and only time I've done an inlay and I used orange stingray skin. Stingray looks cool but I really don't like working with it. The other is a kit that I purchased to use as a template and decided to tool it to look like the kit picture. Both turned out OK but I don't think I would "pay" for either one of them. Each wallet has some major flaws, other than they look like beginner projects, as the interior on the floral wallet buckeled and puckerd because the holes didn't line up right and on the Texas wallet the inlay looks to be a little flimsy because I didn't back it with leather to keep the wallet from being too thick and bulky. I did line the Texas wallet with a nice flying skull fabric though.
  5. Thank you Art. The pictures help and I will get that back issue. ta2r
  6. I am interested in making a chap purse and was wondering if someone wouldn't mind sharing a pattern that they may have. Measurments, dimentions, assembly, etc?? Thanks in advance ta2r

    De Lacy Leather

I would be very interested in the swivel knife and blades pictured. Please send me a pm with price. Thanks ta2r
  8. Thanks for the input, I like the idea of the dowel and epoxy, that will work since I'm kind of a cheapskate. Maybe in the future I will invest in the more elaborate tool.
  9. Hide crafters used to sell a blade that fit in a swivel knife that was similar to several x-acto blades stacked together, but is now discontinued. It was called "Randy's multi-bladed cutter". It is similar to a hair blade but makes cuts deeper. I am trying to locate one, does anybody have an extra or one that is no longer any use to them? I have a hair blade but am looking to make deeper cuts. I thought about trying to make my own with x-acto blades but I would have to modify an old swivel knife to accept the blades. Any help would be appreciated.
  10. The darker one is from scratch and a first try at finger cuts, I kind of ruined it with antique. The lighter colored checkbook cover is a kit but the best darn leather I've run across, and I decided not to antique it. The design on the kit is a Chan Geer design and I butchered it a little but really enjoyed tooling it. I took some hints off of the forum about the lacing and it made a world of difference, I used 3' of lacing at a time, made several dry splices and lubed the lacing with glycerin saddle soap. Thank you to everyone for all of the information that is so abundant in this forum.
  11. I'm sorry this took so long but I had technical difficulties. Here is a really cool shirt pocket wallet that Hennessy sent me. It is made from brown full quill ostrich, and ostrich leg leather, and has a loop on the inside to hold business cards, a spring clip for money, and a compartment for change or a key that is sealed with velcro. Very nice design. My pictures don't do it justice. Thank you Hennessy!!
  12. Hi all, I got this wild hair that I want to get into saddle repair and possibly build a saddle some day, so I advertised on craigslist in the wanted section for a saddle, one that was of no use anymore, and that my intentions were to learn by taking it apart and if it was rebuildable, and i was successful, it would be donated to a charitable place where it could be used. Well, someone came through and this saddle is VERY rough. I think it is a pretty cheap saddle to start with and may not be worth the effort to rebuild but I will learn something from it. Looks like the tooling is embossed, and I can't find any makers mark on it either, other than a 1473 stamped on the rear jockey, the tree looks to be covered with cheescloth, and the skirts are covered with what looks to be a white chalk probably from the salts in sweat. If anybody has any advise PLEASE pipe in. If anyone is interested I'll try to post more pictures later. Thanks for looking.
  13. I sent you a pm, let me know if you didn't get it. ta2r

    San Carlos border

I was curious about the best way to layout and space the stamp, and the distance between the border lines on the san carlos border design. I looked at a tutorial that Steve Mason has on his saddle blog, on some cuffs that he made, which by the way were beautiful, and inspiring. So I took some time and experimented with using a wing divider to make the spacing marks but the marks are noticable, and on Steve's blog I can't figure out how he does this so precise. Any info would be very appreciated. Thank you. hideta2r
