There is an article in the RawHide Gazette (http://pslac.org/public/08_aug16.pdf) on page 10 that shows the process and give ordering information for lip balm filling materials.
Hope this helps.
They removed the article. Here is another way to see it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uQESGNKM0U2c5R9W_4rC_BvMq4rl0E8m/view?usp=sharing

Some quick ideas above, but I usually go to a bible store, but a cheap plastic cover, take apart and use it as the pattern.

A simple Volt-Ohm meter can confirm a short by checking the resistance on the unplugged power lead between the ground lead and either of the other two prongs or between the two prongs.

I've had too many of those ruined screw heads. I've purchased some screw drivers that are marketed for gunsmithing. Just search for "screw drivers for gunsmithing". I assume they are similar to the electrician’s screw drivers, that Uwe mentioned.

On a side note for FERDCO. I've had three of their machines: Pro-2000 (sold it), Pro-TK-1245 (phaff clone) and Pro 206H (consew clone) In all the years I've owned them, I've never, never had a skipped stich. What ever they did to modify the them was great. I think their patent has run out and maybe others will pick it up and make sewing easier for all of us.

Check with https://hoffmanbrothers.com/leather-machines/ They bought out the FERDCO machines and all the parts when FERDCO terminated their business.

Traps and Cats. Almost impossible to make air tight. Those damn mice can get through the smallest crack or hole. Don't ask me how I know....

Price range is much like those of a bladesmith work. I usually purchase Bob's tools at the leather shows he attends like the Rocky Mountain Leather show in Sheridan, WY in May. Whatever I've paid for them in the past, I can sell them for more now. Here is a sampling of the tool impressions ( https://www.pinterest.com/pin/98094098114540664/ ). Call him, (505) 632-7039 and ask your questions. Or send him a Facebook message. I used to live in England and had Bob send me the tools I needed and paid the price of his tools and the duty, just to get his pebble grained tools. For a cheaper price and a comparable quality the Barry King tool are worth their price and hold their value.

The best, in my opinion, currently made tools that I buy are either Barry King, Robert Beard or Wayne Jueschke

The time has run out for the Dal Hoover Estate Sale. This week they get donated to the Boy Scours, Girl Scouts and 4-H. Thanks to those who helped the family. The items are no longer available.
What machine?

Quick answer--no.
Just for grins I did a search for those John Varvatos triple buckle boots and found them in many places from $500 to $1,500. Now to reproduce those boots without any leather experience and no tools, no sewing machine, no leather, no pattern and no experience would be impossible for the £1,000.00 you don't have.
Don't stop dreaming. Start looking for boot patterns, pricing leather, and use YouTube to look at videos on boot making (see the tools and techniques needed) and educate yourself. Start by searching for how to make them.
