  1. A friend accidentally washed his wallet(Gucci). He asked me what to do and I'm not quite sure to be honest... I told him first and foremost we need to let it dry. I'm not sure of the best way to retreat and condition the leather at this point. Any suggestions?
  2. Today I learned that I should trim my fingernails before tooling. My ring finger nail left lots of tiny impressions on the piece I was working on while holding my tools/stamps. I'm learning something new every time I work, lol.
  3. As I'm practicing and getting close and closer to finished pieces, people are asking me if they can buy stuff. I don't even know where to begin with pricing something out. I looked up some equivalent items and it didn't really help. People are advertising "handcrafted leather" items, with what appears to be hours of intricate carving for $10. I can only assume a lot of these pieces aren't really hand carved. How did you guys begin charging? Did you run into the same types of dilemmas?
  4. Any recommendations or guides for beginners buying leather? I don't need large pieces and I'm still not quite sure the best leather to be using for carving. This is the one area where I'm having a hard time being informed... Lots of opinions and not sure where to start.
  5. I'm looking for one as well. I might have to design it myself, but I'd like to find a base to start from. I'm looking to make one for my father-in-law, but the middle panel needs to be big enough to put an insert to hold his deputy badge (retired).

    Hello

Hello! I'm just starting out and joined here to try and learn as much as I can! My father and grandfather are saddlecarvers, so I am trying to add their craft into my own art interests. Big fan of comics and fantasy, science fiction and stuff like that. Hoping to learn a lot from everyone here!
  7. Are the bevelers you recommend available through Tandy?
