  1. Hello again. I did some more research as some members suggested and found a picture of my machine with the bobbin cap in place. I was able to blow it up and read the part numbers. They are 0295 001426 . Today I will call College Sewing and order it along with some bobbins. thanks again for all the help Bob
  2. thanks everyone for your help. As soon as I can find my camera ( my phone does not take good pictures because I got welding splatter on the lens) I will get them off to you guys. Bob
  3. hi Constabulary ....thanks for the heads up. I have checked them out and I did see a "bobbin cap", I since have found a parts list but it shows a bobbin case and I'm not sure which one I need for my machine now. I went back to where I bought my 291 and all the remaining machines are also missing that part. The seller is only an employee and has no inside information about them. I am leaning towards the cap in the College parts list though. I guess it won't hurt to order the cap and hand operate the machine through a cycle to make sure nothing is going to bind or break before turning on the power. thanks again.....Bob
  4. Hi all....I picked up one of the 291's, checked out the different plays in the machine and the guy said it was ready to run on 3 phase which was OK with me. But when I got it into my garage and started cleaning it I found there was no bobbin holder or as some manuals refer to a bobbin cap for it. I contacted Simard in Cambridge and they told me I had to replace the complete hook assembly for around $650.00. Wow, looks like I may have bought a good door stop. I have been on the internet and checked out different sites and have a variety of part numbers and pictures of bobbin case/caps that could work with this machine. Not knowing what I need is frustrating. My question to anyone with a 291is, what part do I really need and where can I get it even a picture would help. Any directions would be a great help. thanks in advance Bob
  5. Hi....I just bought an Durkopp Adler 291 and never checked for a bobbin holder, my mistake. The machine is in perfect shape with no visible wear on the important parts. The motor runs like a champ and when I apply air everything works, the only thing I need to start sewing is a bobbin case. Any help would be well received even if they are used. Thanks in advance......Bob
