I think I am looking for a strap cutter like this. Well, I think it is a little bigger then I need, but the "Green" imported junk on ebay and Amazon suck. What do they go for used? (I know someone who has one, but I need to come up with a reasonable offer) D

I bought an older Adler 104-64 (made in West Germany!) . Working great for me. When I bought it, the guy gave me a couple of boxes of prewound bobbins, which have been working GREAT!! The only problem is after a couple of years, I am now running low, and would like to get another box before I run out. Even having one of the boxes, with all the info on it, I am not sure that i am finding the correct bobbins. Does anyone have a recommendation on a place to order pre-wound bobbins for this machine? (in Black, and in white.) what i use on the top,: 138 Polyester bonded white 1LB KS TR350HS the label on the box of bobbins Or.. should i get a bobbin winder? and start winding my own ?

I am posting this for a friend... very long story short, a bunch of large machinery was sold/bought in one big lot. Most of it was high precision machining equipment. ONE machine, is a type of clicker press , that I *think* is called a "Twin Beam" ? Has "Hudson" on the front, but on the side plate, lists a company from england. I am told it is less then 10 years old, has only been used in a very clean environment, to cut gasket materials. Since I do leather work, I was offered first dibs on it... but to be honest, it is way bigger than I need.. and I already have a sling-arm clicker that works fine for me.. but I offered to help find it a home. EDITED: Looking for $5000 or best reasonable offer. It is currently located in Massachusetts, They also have a forklift to load it onto a truck... but no, probably not going in your mini van.

P.S. from some web research, it looks like new, depending on the add-ons, this machine sells *new* , for over $50,000 . We are currently thinking of putting it on Ebay, and letting the market drive the price... but I thought we should put it up on here first.

So... i picked up one on ebay. had high hopes, because it looked almost exactly like the more expensive ones. It sucks. does not cut threw, stalls out, at anything over 3oz The original poster was asking about the cheap(affordable?) machines from china on ebay. The first reply, was saying theirs was great... but they then showed a youtube video of a "Cowboy" brand strap cutting. NOT THE SAME THING!! The Cowboy goes for way over $1000+, and YES , All the videos on youtube, showing the cowboy strap cutter show it cutting thick up to 12oz ?) leather. NONE of the videos for the cheap china machines show it cutting anything more then 2oz !! It appears to be a problem with torque... the motor stalling out . I will see if the motor can be replaced/upgraded... but otherwise, this is a piece of junk.

I am also looking at these... I am a little concerned that even though lots and lots are offered on amazon, and look identical (same stock photos and txt), very few have any "Reviews" . and if it does, it is usually like one "love this machine!!" (seller?) and two or three "this machine sucks" (buyers) reviews. I need a machine that will cut 8 to 10 oz strap leather. and I can not get a straight answer from any of them.. and all the sample videos show it cutting very thin leather. Has anyone actually used one? Oh! and to be clear: I do not mean one of the Cowboy modals. They may look approximately the same, but they are way more expensive (and probably better). I am looking for "Affordable/Adequate" not "Expensive/Perfect".

ok... one more (embarrassing) detail from my "Long story short" , the F40 was "Broken" because somehow the phase converter I was using to make 3phase, had a crossed wire. The flywheel was spinning the wrong way. :/

Very long story short, I recently moved my workshop, broke my clicker press (HSM F40) , bought a FIPI FE 20/A on impulse, but, then fixed my F40. I only need one, so I am trying to figure out which is the better one to keep. There are other factors, like the location of the FIPI (I have not picked it up yet). Does anyone have any information about the FIPI FE 20/A ? Are the numbers in the model name the pressure tonnage? 40 ton, vs 20 ton? From what I can see, it looks like the Fipi may be more modern, and has better controls for the height/pressure, but has a smaller head on it. The F40 is a little larger, has the old school cranks on the top of the head, to adjust height/pressure, but has been a work horse that I have been using for 20 years. Last question.... it looks like I may be selling one of them. Any suggestions for fair prices? (Anyone looking for a clicker in the Boston MA/ Nashua NH area?)

Oh!! In case the scale is not obvious.. they are about 10 inches long, 8 inches high, and with about 5 inches wide

So.. doing some cleaning/clearing out... and found a couple of machines that I picked up at an auction.. not sure when .. could have been the '90s... :/ Not having any luck finding any info on them.. figured I would post some pictures on here, and see if people had any info or ideas to do with them. They are very small, and looks like it works/was working, with thread in it.... (the black one).. no visible brand name (appears almost identical to the green one, labeled SINGER, two plates: top one: G2 495.093 base plate: 20-26 . other one is obviously not functional ( the green one).. has "singer" on it, and one plate is missing, the plate on the base says 20-7 Any idea what they were used for? are they still useful? Oh ! i had someone tell me they thought they were kids toys... I doubt this... these are set up to be used with a motor, and came out of a factory setting... Thank for any help! Dantan

I have a Fortunea Model V 50 K Skiver, and I am have some issues. Basically what i *want* to do with it, is skive the last 1.5 inches end of a strap, as if you were going to fold it over, to put a belt buckle on the end of it. What it currently does, is skive the last 1.5 inches, the part skived is much thinner on the side that goes in, then the the side that comes out last. I am not sure if that description is clear, I will enclose a picture of a drawing of what it is doing. I am kind of lost, because this machine has SO MANY CONTROL KNOBS!!! and I don't have a manual . I have looked for youtube videos on it, but have not found any that deal with this. (Please, if you know of one, let me know!!!!) Thank you in advance, for any help!!! Dantan

Hi, I am sorry, I forgot to post as to how it was all resolved... I decided to try a new cone of thread.... and it worked!!!! All I can think of is that the thread is so stiff, that it gets to the end of the cone, the curve is so tight, it is twisting the thread.... not sure.. but, a new cone seemed to fix it!! Dantan

So , in my own trouble shooting, I changed the needle already.... I will have to check the hook for burrs... the comment about the thread is interesting, because the cone is about 3/4 empty, and I have noticed that it has a lot more twist to it then it did when the cone was full/larger... could this cause it? This is the first cone of thread I have ever used on this machine... On the cone it says Bonded Nylon 66 Tex 135 1250 yards Col:Black Does that sound right? D

Hi, I have an Adler 104-64, that is suddenly giving me problems. I am stitching two to three layers of heavy-ish belt leather, and have not had trouble before, but today, I can not for the life of me get it to stich more then 5 stitches before it starts skipping stitches, and then stops stitching completly... and when I look at the needle, some how the top thread is wrapped around the needle. I cut the thread... put it into the needle correctly, and same thing happens again. Any suggestion? Thank yuo i advance, for any help!! D

Trying to show it in the correct perspective....

So, I have a machine I picked up years ago... and am only now getting around to working on. I was hoping people here could help me figure out who made it, and more importantly, where I can get some dies made for it, so I can start to use it!! The die pictured is the die that was in it when I got it. I do not know if it was specific to the machine, or just something that the previous owner made work. Any help would be appreciated!!

Hi, I posted about this and another machine a few days ago, but it was pointed out to me that my post was not very clear, and having the machine in the title will help. The other machine is a Singer 51W54, which I will also write up in more detail, in its own post, probably tomorrow. The Singer 29-4 has not been used in at least 15 years, but stored in my workshop... so .. temperature controlled, normal humidity etc... I picked it up for a particular project, that never happened, so i really do not have any experience using it. I have not completely dug it out of the corner that it is in, to do any test stitching... when I do.. the price might go up I am located in the greater Boston area.
