  1. So, as the title says, I'm new to the art of leatherwork, and I'm from the state of Illinois. A little about me, since that's what this section is about, right? I have been interested in working with leather for a little while, but became super interested when I purchased a leather and spiked collar for my pup at the "bargain" price of $200. Needless to say, I received an Amazon starter kit for Christmas. Fast forward 6 months, and I now make custom leather collars for people and their pets at a fraction of the price. Basic tooling, strap making, sewing, padding and backing by hand. I want to get better at this, and each collar I make his better than the last. I'm still really new, and honestly all my stuff comes from either Weaver, or Tandy. Reading through some of the forums I see there are other, better places to purchase leather, hardware and machinery. I recently purchased from Springfield, and was wondering if there are any more places like this, and if there were ant other places I would be able to purchase machinery from? Id love a sewing machine, and a press!! Already too long, I apologize. A million questions, and down time at work don't make for the best intros. Thanks everyone! Mike
