I got a diode laser and wanted to test it out. So far, it does great for making patches. I just finished these two field notes covers and am very happy with how they turned out.
I just wanted to mention that for hobby use and/or small scale production that a 5.5w diode laser can do a pretty amazing job.

Hello all,
I have been working on developing my skills but found myself in need of a new briefcase type bag. I decided to challenge myself and see where I need work. I learned a lot in this project and I know that I have lots of work to go. Overall, for my first bag (without templates or patterns) I am very happy with the results.

I have been visiting this site for about two years now. I spent a year reading information before I gained the confidence to start trying some projects. I appreciate all of the advice you all provide and I look forward to getting to interact with you. I am in Central FL and have been enjoying the leatherwork that I have done so far. I am interested in smaller projects, i.e., wallets, notebooks, etc...

Makers leather supply has a build video for a zippered notebook. The process should be what you are looking for and should just need some adjustments for a bible.
