  5. I just acquired a Consew 206RB-3 in near mint condition for $250.00 and am beside myself excited! I have not used a walking foot machine prior to this and am wondering about any and all things related to it. I am thinking a Servo motor might be the way for me to go but don't know what model or where to purchase? I am planning on sewing heavier fabrics and leather. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on most of which has been online. I do have operators manuals for ever Consew 206RB except the 3, (my model of course). I have gone over the entire machine and everything seems to be working as it should. I'm not certain but it looks like the oil wicks on the top of the machine may have gotten shredded, (I've included some photos). I have been searching online for replacement oil wicks and haven't found any. Does anyone have a source for those? Also are there supposed to be any wicks in or around the needle bar area? Is there anyone out there that lives in the Lexington, Kentucky or Ohio that may have sources for supplies like thread, needles and etc., or even online sources that can help someone like myself new to this kind of machine? Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks, Heidi ,

  8. Hello there, first of all i just wanted to say that I am very happy that I found your website! So helpful! I would like to ask for some advice on finding accessories for my machines. I have a butterfly 335 cylinder bed compound feed sewing machine which I believe is a clone of pfaff 335 but not entirely sure and a emel-protex EM 3300 flat bed lockstich machine. I intend to use these machines to make leather bags. I have bought the machines in Nigeria and I believe the manuals that came with them are not even for these machines. I cannot find any information on parts for these machines or where to buy them. I would like to buy the following: butterfly: straight stitch Guides, motor belt(10mm x1275mm) zipper guide and possible some other parts that I may need in leather bag making and someone could advice? protex: straight stitch guides(I don't think there are holes to attach it though?) zipper guides and other feet that could be of help? i live in France now so best would be some suppliers in Europe. i am also looking for a leather skiving machine but I have a limited budget. I was thinking about this one: http://www.sieck.de/en/machines/skiving/leather-goods-and-automotive-interieur/details/1382/ is anyone familiar with it? Any opinions? i'd highly appreciate any help! thank you, Sandra

  10. I bout the machine "like new" last March, and it still is...I used it only twice to practice stitching a belt, but then life kinda got hectic and never got around to using it again. Then, from Texas, I moved to Alabama and the machine has been stored this whole time...and yes, It is fully assembled, you can see it run and test it out before purchase. Ok, as for price....I have 3 options for you to consider... 1. $2700, my price of the machine INCLUDING my whole investment of merchandise for my attempted leather business (lol), which values at approx. $3500-$4000 at least..ALL purchased from Tandy Leather......THIS consists of NEW HUGE spools of thread*, NEW dyes and some used bottles of different color dyes, conditioner/gloss, NEW tools (multiple size punches, riveting kits, jewel setters, marker, hand carver, etc) , NEW conchos, jewels, eyelets, NEW belt buckles, LOTS of NEW UNUSED RAW leather belts, NEW belt loops AND tips, NEW packages of daubbers, 3/4" ALPHABET LETTER Leather punch set, guides, and maybe something I'm missing but whatever it is, its included! lol 2. $2500, price of the machine, spools of thread, and I will allow you to pick a few other things you might immediately need...To be discussed 3. $2250 machine only, and yes, the thread...I wouldn't want to sell you a machine without AT LEAST having that to get started *If I cannot find the thread at that moment, I WILL send it to you...Off hand, at this very moment, I can't recall where it is stored but I do have them Please consider these options and let me know how you feel, I do want to let it go, for someone else to use and benefit from so once you contact me, we can talk and see what will better accommodate each other because I have other business venture plans as well love... thank you for your time! Hope to speak with you soon!!! #GodBless

  15. Hi everyone! I do leathercraft as a hobby and I work mostly with veg tan leather. I find this forum very useful, I thank all of you posting answers here and sharing your knowledge and thoughts! I recently acquired my first walking foot leather sewing machine (a Dürkopp 239-525) in used but good condition. It has an AC clutch motor and we've set it up to run through a Yaskawa frequency converter (well...my husband did). It came with only one feet - left toe outer foot and I was wondering what other accessories I might need (different feet and guides...). What accessories do you guys find the most helpful for walking foot leather sewing machines? What do you use the most? In what circumstances? Thanks a lot!

  17. After several days of carefully browsing through the countless topics I decided to abuse the good will of the senior members in order to get specific answers/advice to my case. I will be short so I won't waste your time. Looking to move from hand-stitching to machine sewing while keeping the same "look" for new larger items impossible to handstitch. So looking to make women wallets, bags, totes etc. This would be done with heavy jeans cotton, waxed canvas, 1-2mm leather and thick thread. I chose these based on availability in my country: - JACK JK 62682LG - enlarged hook heavy duty cylinder bed, 6mm max stitch, DPx17 #18-24 needle sizes - JACK 550W servo motor with NPS (needle positioning system) - stitching slow and accurate is important to me - will be sewing with 20/3 and 10/3 synthetic thread. I don't know how it translates into the 207/277 sizes - no slanted stitches - I need a straight large stitch, large holes I was thinking of ordering size #18/20 needles for lighter leather/fabrics and #24 for heavier 3-5mm leather. So i ordered some 135-16 system needles with D/TRI point. Please let me know your recommendations if you think I should order different parts or needles. Thank you!
  18. Hi, I'm an upholsterer specialising in leather and teach at university. I dabble in leatherwork at my home workshop and have been asked to do a 6hr block teaching "leather stitchwork for accessories. Would anyone be willing/able to help me with a lessonplan which is to include making as well as induction demo for students from the Anarchy Studio These are Yr 2 & 3 students equally from Textiles and Jewellery (Group Size 30 but we can identify how many spaces for each event). Some students are complete newcomers but all confirm that they're eager for more experience and advise. Students now have a good range of existing design ideas and sketchbook processes which you could use to drive sessions/ direct their making. Students would ideally be able to learn and practice one or two processes by the end of the day, and know enough to be able to later return independently to the area to practice further. If you are able to help (I really hope so!), I would be very greatful. This will be for just a 6 hour block
