Hello, My dad has a Durkopp-Originale 18/Duerkopp Originale 18 leather sewing machine, probably produced in the 1930ies. My dad has been using this machine regularly, but he recently lost the spool house/bobbin holder that houses the bobbin. He asked me to help him to find a replacement. I have tried Durkopp-Adler but they cannot help. Can you help or do you know where to start? I have attached photos of the spool house/bobbin case from a very old manual of the Duerkopp Originale 18 and a photo of a similar spoolhouse/bobbin case from a different, larger machine. If anyone has this part for the Durkopp Originale 18, we will be very happy to pay for it. Any help with this would be much appreciated! Hello all. I am new here, but I have learned much by searching the forums. My wife and I just purchased a barely-used Econosew DNU-1541s (Jukie 1541s Clone) in beautiful condition. My wife is a very experienced sewer, and I am just learning to sew. We recently hired an experienced technician to check over and adjust the machine, as this is our first walking-foot machine. The technician sold us a replacement "M-size" bobbin case, as the original bobbin case's tension spring was slightly out-of-round. The replacement bobbin case is shown on the right-hand side of the attached picture. The original bobbin case is shown on the left - inserted into the hook's carrier. I removed the carrier to clean and investigate. Notice that the original bobbin case's spring latch and protrusion are oriented at 90-degrees, relative to the bobbin case opening at the 12-o'clock position. This bobbin case inserts with a definitive "click", as the protrusion matches the notch in the hook's carrier. In contrast, the new bobbin case's spring latch and protrusion are oriented at approximately 110-degrees, relative to the bobbin case opening. The new bobbin case's protrusion does not match the notch in the hook's carrier. Therefore, the bobbin case doesn't appear to lock into the carrier or onto the carrier's post. My wife sewed an entire day with this new case, before experiencing a thread jam and needle break. It appeared to me that the new bobbin case had rotated within the hook carrier. My Questions: Does Juki (and the clones) sell two styles of "M-sized" bobbin cases for their machines? How can we ensure that we are ordering the correct bobbin case - with the latch and protrusion at 90-degrees, relative to the bobbin case opening? I just ordered a Juki OEM bobbin case the other day, but I'm now concerned that I will be receiving the wrong style bobbin case. Thanks in advance for your help! Dale

Ok, sewing machine gurus, I have a Ferdco 900B that I acquired when I bought a guy out, that sews just ok, but doesn't hold bobbin tension very well. I've maxxed out the bobbin tension, I've taken the spring off and cleaned out the gunk accumulated under it, replaced the spring with a different one (that came in a box of parts that came with the machine). Neither of the springs show very much wear, nor does the surface of the bobbin case under the spring. However, the little notch at the far end of the slot under the spring, that the thread is supposed to snap into shows some wear, and I believe the thread is slipping out of it as the thread spools off the bobbin from side to side. Even when the thread is properly in the little notch, however, I can't adjust it to have enough tension. There is no beehive spring inside the bobbin case, and I'm not sure there ever was one. The manual shows to change the bobbin with the opening in the case down, so the bobbin drops right out, which makes me think there was never a spring to start with. The manual also states that the bobbin tension should be set to "slight resistance" when in my opinion, you'll never, ever get a tight enough stitch with "slight resistance" on the bobbin thread. My question is, can I replace JUST the bobbin case, or is it an integral part of the whole hook assembly? And if I DO need to buy the whole hook assembly, will the 441 hooks work? I know that the Ferdco was made from the Consew 754R, but haven't found much online for parts for that machine. The bobbin case itself looks identical to the one in my Cowboy 4500, on which incidentally, I can screw the tension down to where it pulls a pretty tight stitch. The bobbin case for the CB4500 does have the beehive spring, but I don't believe that alone can create the amount of tension that I can get from it, primarily because when I bought it new, the bobbin tension was set way too loose for my liking. Any advice?

This machine has been so great to me over the years that I've never actually had to replace anything mechanical so far. I was trying to sew something much too thick for the poor machine (an old circus tent's webbing) and was forcing the hand wheel down to try and complete the stitch. After a few broken and bent needles, it was no longer picking up the bobbin thread. This is when I felt the tip of the hook and noticed it was rough and seemed like just a tiny piece had snapped off. So I set to work trying to get it out and realized I don't know what I'm doing. Anybody have this issue or can direct me to removing it? I live in the super sticks and there are no repair people here. Any hints would be much appreciated! Thanks
