  2. Hi Everyone, I am pretty new to this and still learning tricks of the trade, honestly the reason I got into it was all because I was searching for a pair of nice pair of soft sole moccasins and couldn’t find ones I like so, I decided I would make my own. My first attempt honestly did not go well I learned a lot about what not to do and things I can do differently second pair was made from pieces of suede I found at hobby lobby, I can’t count how many times I stitched ,unstitched ,modified my pattern and did it again, after about 2 weeks of working on them on and off I was finally done, and I’m pretty sure I work them consistently the entirety of the whole COVID lockdown, my next few pairs were for my girlfriend and at the time 2 children. After wearing them around for sometime people started to show some interest in them and I had a few requests for some custom designs ( side note, I don’t know about you guys but the moment you hand the finished product to the customer is absolutely terrifying, but seeing the reactions when they saw them and put them on was one of the coolest feelings I have ever felt, since then I haven’t had a lot of time but I managed to make a few other pairs I still need to post on to my Reddit which I will link my forum because I have no idea how to get pictures on here haha but any input or advice would be gratefully appreciated, thanks for reading! https://www.reddit.com/r/BessMoccasins/

  4. Been a while since I posted any of my works.. Here is a wallet and keychain I've made for myself it was time to retire my prototype wallet made out of chestnut buttero. New wallet is EPI leather in navy color for the outside and inside is Alran sully in marine color. Stitching is black waxed linen thread at 3.38mm spacing done with French style pricking irons. Edges are sanded then burnished and sanded again with 3/4 coats or vernis edge paint in marine color. thanks for looking !!
  5. G'day everyone, been a while, thought I would show you a custom book I finish for a customer, Leather used for Cover, Gold Tooled using tools that are around 120 years old.
  6. Hi. I just bought a Zoje cylinder arm binding machine. It was used and the company only had a 1” custom binder they could find for me. I need a 3/4” to sew leather binding on my leather bags. I didn’t go with a custom attachment from atl attachment because for their quote...I could buy a used synchronized binder..which I did. I’m hoping to order one from China when they are back to normal..but I’m the meantime, I thought I’d see if someone on here has one they could sell me. I need a right angle one I think.
  7. Hi, I am looking for someone to recreate my boyfriends wallet that was his grandfathers. I have been told it was made by someone who used handmade stamps so it will be hard to recreate. Im just trying to find someone who can recreate it as close as possible! I can email pictures but it won’t let me upload them here

    Printing on leather

Hi guys, Been going crazy trying to find a solution to printing on leather. I have a leather jacket I am interested in putting a graphic on the front and on the back. I've been reading some forums on here saying to use either the screen printing method or sublimation in order to get the image onto a leather jacket but is there another way thats possible? My graphics are very detailed images so I don't think screen printing would give me the result I'm looking for. I know it's possible though, as I've seen a lot more designers use some sort of method to transfer images onto their leather. I have been getting a lot of "no's" from companies saying the only real way is to have the print made before the jacket is, but is there another way to transfer an image? Would love your feedback and if anyone knows any companies that may be able to help!

    Recreate a handbag

Hi! my mother and I have a precious (to us) handbag from a popular company that has been worn from years of use. I have tried and failed to find a replacement of similar style and color. It is a hot pink shoulder bag. I am looking for someone who would possibly be able to recreate this purse for me. I would mail you the original to work from. The lining is in wonderful condition, so I think you might be able to just use it as is unless it’s easier for you to create a new lining. email me if you’re interested. I can give you more info and I am interested in your pricing for such a project. alyssa dot holt 96 at gmail dot com
  10. So excited to be here! Thank you for letting this hoodlum in lol! Just wanted to post a pic of my work and give a light introduction. My husband is owner/maker at Vehement Knives and I do all of our custom leather goods! I've also done a few designs for Bark River Knives' sheath department! I am here to learn so any constructive criticism is accepted and encouraged! Thanks again!

    Custom leather bag

I'm looking for someone to make me a custom leather messenger type bag 14 and 1/2 inch by 14 and 1/2 in and another smaller matching bag about 8 and 1/4 inch by 7 and 1/2 in
  12. Hey guys! My name is Jon. I own a small leather shop in Castroville, Texas called Spartan Custom Leather. Right now we have a 2.5 - 3 year wait list on new custom orders and need a little help catching up. If you would like to get paid to do some leatherwork, please text me and send a few pics of your work to 210-381-1299. Thank you.
  13. I did a blog post review of Texas Leather Dies. I won't recreate it here, but the condensed version is --they are amazing. Ten outta ten! If you'd like the details, check it out on my website at https://www.BruceGibsonDesign.com If you're in the market for clicker dies, mallet dies, etc., I highly recommend these folks. They are also Leatherworker.net supporters. Awesome all-around!
  14. I have been doing leather working for roughly a year now, and have had a few commissions, and I have a few in line now. I have already had my logo created by a professional artist, with the intent of having it made into a makers stamp. So far, my research is limited as I do not have hardly any access to the internet unless I am at the office. I tried Buckeye, and they have not responded back after some more details on what I want. I found a local shop that I visited this morning and the price he gave me (also while telling me they may not be able to get as much detail as I would like) a price that about gave me a heart attack.... $265. I am looking for a recommendation on a company to get my logo, which is my icon here...created. Appreciate any and all help.
  15. Haven't posted for awhile and thought I'd share this. I did this sheath for a custom knife maker that had a customer wanting a leather sheath with tooling.
  16. For a new line of bracelets I'm looking for magnetic bracelet clasps with our logo. I spend a lot of time finding a supplier in China, but unfortunately this seems like a never ending road leading nowhere... Anyone knows a supplier who can make this kind of hardware? Doesn't necessarily have to be our own design, some kind of standard clasp than can be customised might be just as interesting :-) All help we be very much appreciated! Have a great day! 17. LOOKING FOR A LEATHER WORKER TO COLLAB WITH...READ ALL PLEASE... I built these wedge sandals in collaboration with a talented leather worker. I sent the "template" over that I had drawn up, he tooled the pieces to my specs and sent them to me individually just as flat pieces....I took it from there and built these from the ground up...I added the leather turquoise inlays on the wedge portion, attached all leather to build the shoe as well as all embellishments which include brass studs, buckles, custom conchos, hand cut venice lace, etc...There are a lot of versions of tooled soes out there now a days, yet I have still had about 100 people reach out to me to make them a pair. I am still learning to tool leather and am not near ready enough to do justice to a project like this for a anyone and am looking for a leather worker to collaborate with to make several pairs of these...I also have made several pairs of wedding and party shoes which I have included pictures of with full glitter heels and soles... pricing can be discussed with anyone seriously interested :-) Thanks for looking and hoe you all love the design
  18. Do you ever want to talk a customer out of their custom order/idea. At the last gun show, I got a few doozies. One fellow asked for a 3" wide belt ... 3" wide. He wanted to wear it over his hunting gear. I measured him on my sizing belt, I asked him a second and third time, "Three Inches??!!" Yep. "You realize that's essentially a weight lifting belt." Yep. "You realize that's wider than any duty belt." Yep. I had to get the buckle from Weaver, and I'm sure it's intended for use as a Draft Horse tack. I applied a reasonable upcharge and just finished the belt .... I'll keep you posted. Another guy, who just took delivery on IWBs for a Charter Arms Bulldog 44 and a Ruger Security Six promptly ordered a crossdraw IWB for a full size 1911. You may not think that's odd, but this fellow stands about 5'2". I wondered to my table mates if he ever sits down. Of all the orders I had last month, NOT ONE did I have a pattern for. Two required using a live firearm (fortunately, the same Glock 40 (yes, an IWB as well!)) and I'm now, apparently in the bodybuilding industry. Is it just me, or is this par for the "Custom" course?
  19. I was wondering if anybody here from the San Francisco area has any recommendations for craft fairs or trade shows in the area. I'm not looking for fetish or that kind of fair, just places where leather art is displayed, sold, etc.
  20. Hey guys, am new to the site. I ran into a little bit of a snag which is what brought me here. I have a particular belt buckle(1.5") I am trying to fit onto a belt that has a width of 2"(9oz). I was wondering if anyone knew how to make this work?
  21. --> Beginning of rant. I'm putting this out here in hopes that it will help another seller avoid the stupid mistake I made trying to accommodate a buyers request on Ebay. I'm still on the fence about if this is some sort of scam, or maybe this guy's wife just got angry he spent so much money. Long story short ...A buyer contacted me asking for 5 of my leather holsters to be heavily customized. I agreed with the caveat that since they're customized, they would not be returnable. He acknowledged that he understood they were not returnable. He pays, I fabricate, customize and ship the first 4 holsters, he receives them, leaves positive feedback, orders the 5th holster based on the first 4, then 1 hour after he receives the 5th holster in the mail, puts in a return request for both orders, with the reason "I changed my mind". I replied and told him that I wouldn’t accept the returns. He opened cases with Ebay, who of course immediately found in his favor and accepted the returns on my behalf. I contacted customer service, she read the cases and messages where he agreed to no returns. The moment she pointed out that the return policy on the item itself said "30 day returns", I knew I had lost. Now I get to toss out $300+ of custom leather holsters, that I likely can't resell to anyone else. Here's the lesson learned: Even if the buyer agrees to no returns, if the item return policy indicates it can be returned, you're stuck, and have to accept the returns, even if the buyer agreed in writing not to return the item(s). That individual item return policy has to be set to "No Returns" for Ebay to honor that. The customer service lady was actually very sympathetic, she suggested once I get the returned items, that I inspect them thoroughly to make sure they're in the same new condition that I shipped them and suggested that if they're not, I open cases. But I suspect even if they're damaged and I open cases, that Ebay won't do anything about it. I'm guessing that even if Ebay had agreed and not made me accept the return, he would have likely opened a case with PayPal or even charged back his credit card. I've never left negative feedback for buyers, but I might make an exception in this case. I'm waiting to see the returned items before I make a decision on that. Lesson learned: Cost of this lesson: $300 plus shipping. There needs to be blacklist of buyers that try to screw over sellers. --> End of rant.
