Recently purchased a 153k103 cylinder arm walking foot machine. The machine worked fine days before I picked it up and brought it over to my place. The walking foot is stuck in the up position and lever behind it isn’t working, no tension. The pedal is connected as should be but I don’t feel any tension whenever the pedal is pressed, I have a feeling something is stuck. Not much of a mechanic and the manuals don’t explain much on these matters. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Photos of the leak and lubrication system: https://imgur.com/a/ZIpNo72 Longtime lurker, first time poster. I purchased a new Sunstar KM-380 BL-B cylinder arm machine in January 2020. I learned about the machine on here (thanks!) and it's been great, especially for the price. Synchronized binder works well, thread tension is good, and no issues going through lots of thick nylon materials like Cordura and webbing. The issue I'm having is that is regularly leaks oil in a few places. The primary leak is at the bottom of the bobbin case onto the foot pedal, the oil usually pooling on the back wall of the head, down the swing-up roller guide and foot, and into the bottom of the bobbin cover and then slowly dripping down from the bobbin case bottom and holes at the bottom of the arm. The other leak happens in the area of the body with the upright shaft- there's an oil pan at the base but oil will pool within a few hours and also leak from the rear of the hinge and down to the bottom of the machine base. I stay on top of it but it will literally drain a full oil tank in a week or two and it doesn't matter if I'm sewing or not. I have inspected the wick sysem the best I can, noticed no cracks in the oil resevoir, moved the wicks slightly so they're away from the walls, and still have consistent leaking. I've checked the oil pan regularly while sewing and will still notice it leaking near the rear hinge bolts which leads me to believe at least some oil is going down the back wall of the body toward the base. I purchased locally here in Los Angeles and can bring it in for servicing but trying to avoid doing that for a few weeks, unfortunately right after I purchased this machine the pandemic started so that hampered things. Hoping it's an easy fix, I know some people on here are familiar with the machine and this is the best resource for cylinder arm info on the internet. Checked the lubrication system against the one in the parts manual and nothing looked off: https://www.jati.su/files/sunstar_detailing/KM-380BL_380BLB_PME.pdf My next plan was to stuff the machine with cotton fabric overnight, let it soak up any extra oil on the felt pads, and try it again. I might have over-oiled in the beginning (coming from my Juki 1541s which likes oil) but have ran the machine a bunch and let it 'dry out' a bit between oilings but never ran it on an empty resevoir out of fear of damaging the internals. I have always followed the oiling instructions from the manual. None of the manuals have troubleshooting for oil leaks and googling hasn't shown me any working solutions so far. Hi All, I am ordering my first industrial compound feed cylinder arm machine, the SEIKO LSC-8B-2! While I have done my fair share of research of this machine, It would be great to hear of ANY advice dedicated to this model to assist me or anyone else interested in this machine in the future. Now, I was in a dilemma on which model to get; the 8B-2 (standard sewing) or 8BV-2 (sychronised binder). I asked SEIKO Japan via email if 8BV-2 can do standard sewing and sync binding, and the response I got was: "In LSC-8BV-2 case, sewing may be difficult by material" ...I suppose LSC 8BV-2 is intended for sync binding only/primarily. However, my local sales advisor said LSC 8BV-2 can do standard sewing and sync binding (I was wary of this answer, perhaps the advisor just wanted me to buy the higher priced model...). I wanted a machine that can do both 'modes' professionally. I want to get the most from a single machine and buying two machines is not viable at the moment; money and space does not allow! ...So I did my own youtube research of both models... There are a few youtube sewing demos of SEIKO LSC 8B-2. As well as LSC 8BV-2, that demonstrates standard sewing (no sync binding operation in sight) and it looks perfect; stitch quality and material feeding are agreeable! At this point, I was conflicted with what I have been told and what I have seen. However, I made my final decision based on SEIKO Japan agent's advice and got the LSC 8B-2. I also read another thread from this website in regards to the difference between sync binding and standard models which also informed my decision. Has anyone else been in this position? Or can a specialist provide any advice? Machine aside, can anyone provide advice for: Swing away binder Where can I buy it online? Any advice with installing? Flatbed attachment Where can I buy it online? I asked my local sales advisor about this attachment and was quoted $1,300 AUD for it... Ridiculous! Suspending edge guide Where can I buy it online? I asked my local sales advisor about this attachment and was quoted $430 AUD for it. There must be a less expensive option... I have searched ebay already for these items with mixed results. Hence my reaching out to any LSC 8B-2 specialists here to provide a direct lead to compatible and fair-priced pieces. Hopefully this thread can demystify this machine. This is part two of many posts like this until I find a machine for me and get a handle more on leather machine sin gnereal. It’s rare that a nice used cylinder arm machine becomes available around here. I’ve started prototyping bag patterns to sell. Both vegtan and chrome tanned. I've posted about Pfaff and other cylinder arm machines available on Craigslist previously. Spotted this machine available nearby. Has anyone used a Necchi cylinder arm machine for leather bag making? This is the Necchi 840-100 model. Looks brand new despite its age. It’s a lower barrier to entry for me rather than a new machine, but obviously there’s no warranty. Seller says they have spare parts and manual. Clearly I’d need to add a servo and speed reducer. Question: 1. how rare are these parts? 2. Is this a good machine for a person like me? 3. what do you think it’s worth? Any info is helpful. Thanks. -

Hi everyone So I really hope someone can help me with info on a pfaff 335-9B H2L. I was able to purchase the machine from someone selling it on gumtree for $290 which I think is a bargain. I cleaned and oiled the machine, had to make some timing adjustments, now it's working great! I googled the model but was unable to find anything. So if anyone can provide me with some info I would greatly appreciate it!

So I finally spent some time trying to understand industrial sewing machine needle sizes and systems. As a reference I’d spent some time going through the information shared on the needles and threads sticky post linked here from 2011: Here has been the main thread for this machine: I bought this machine used (obviously) but the few needles that came with it are nearly unmarked and are about 1.52” long. So I wanted to share with you what I’m doing to find out what size these last few existing needles are that I have that go in my Pfaff 335 clone (it’s a Necchi 840-100 rotating bindery cylinder arm machine). I’d actually purchased a full set of 135 x16 (common needles for walking foot machines for use on the leather, in place of the 135X 17 needles). These are about 1.7” long. These needles were too long. I actually had to adjust the Needle bar very high to allow these larger needles to work. As I adjusted this, the Needle bar eventually touched the top of the machine Case and I realized this wasn’t going to work. I couldn’t find needles that matched the 134 needle system that the Necchi manual described. Eventually I found some! Hi Leatherworkers, I have a practically unused Techsew 2700 Pro for sale. This is a cylinder bed, compound walking foot, industrial sewing machine for light and medium leather. It will sew up to 3/8” thickness. It has a reinforced U table, Smartservo-NP motor (needle positioning), reverse stitch, TS-28 LED work lamp, TLG laser guide, swing-down roller guide, flatbed table attachment, bobbin winder and thread stand. An awesome machine! The cylinder arm is 10.5 inches long and 2.5 inches in diameter. Also included are a left toe zipper foot, premium needles and several spools of thread. I received this machine in November of 2017, but was not able to start using it until January of 2018. I have had very little time to use it and won’t have for the foreseeable future, so I am selling it now. It has had approximately 10 hours of use. It has been oiled regularly and is really a brand new machine. Please see photo below which shows the flatbed table attachment in place. I have many photos, but due to size constraints could only attach one. I am asking $2000. I’m in northern Colorado and hope to find a buyer within pick-up distance to avoid shipping.

Hi All, I am looking buying a second hand what appears to be a little-used Wimsew 246. It will be my first venture into an industrial unit. I've been looking for the right 2nd hand machine for some months and this the latest offering in the classifieds. It will be used on a low volume home-based craft manufacturer, making bags, wallets. I want to be able to do top threads and usual stitching. This will range from size #/tkt60 -10, with needle sizes 14/90 - 25/200 (or maybe 24/180 at a push) Can anyone offer a view if this machine will be suitable? Part of the reason I've come on here for advice is that there doesn't seem to be a manual available online. I've contacted Wimsew and they say they only supply one with a new machine which is a little frustrating. I know it's very similar to a Juki 246 (a clone), but I don't know just how similar. A Juki seems to be able to do what I'm after. Given I want to move between these sizes, will the timing of any parts need to be adjusted to move between these sizes? I'm going to take my materials and threads in the next day or so and have a go, but I wonder if anyone has any experience or views. What is the shank, max needle size, and is it over all a decent machine?? I work with veg tan 9oz max, bags mostly. Any opinion helps, thank you! -
Listing for a 96 year old retired leatherworker and saddlemaker in Northern California. The ferdco has a ton of accessories I’ve included one page of the original invoice. The sewing machines are low hour and well maintained as for prices let me know about prices I don’t want my friend to get ripped off or taken advantage of, or maybe his prices are too high, any advice is appreciated. For sale is a brand new (only used 2 times) Cowboy 3200 cylinder bed sewing machine. Seriously, I only made on holster and one belt on this machine. It's literally brand new still. I bought this new from Ryan Neele and within 1 week of owning it, I ran across another machine that is larger and that I originally wanted. Since purchasing the new machine, I do not need the Cowboy 3200. It come will all accessories from the factory. Plus, the belt makers kit ($180) and the flat top conversion table ($120). I have been asked lately to repair Hockey equipment . The final step quite often is edge binding. I have a Binder mounted on Adler 267/373 table top machine and it works very well for product you can fit into the sewing area. When I do large Goalie pads , Blocker Mitts and Catcher Mitts, unless I completely disassemble them I am unable to get them near the Binder. I am shopping for a Cylinder arm machine with a binder. Is there anybody here that would have a suggestion where to start? I have an Artisan 4000 (large frame chinese copy of a Juki 441 ) could a binder be applied to the Artisan?

This is my first post, so here it goes. I am hoping to get some advice on buying the correct machine for my needs. I only have experience with flatbed machines and I've never used a cylinder arm machine before. So some advice would be great. The type of products I have been making include laptop bags, tablet sleeves, wallets, duffel bags and some handbags. I am looking to start manufacturing a variety of products and a lot more handbags. From what I gather most people who stitch handbags use cylinder arm machines. Now my question is; would a cylinder arm be able to do what a flatbed machine can do? Are cylinder arm machines as powerful as flatbed machines? Any advice would be great! FYI, I have been running a leather manufacturing business for someone else, and I am starting my own business now, that is why I need to purchase the correct machine.

i'm selling a almost new Pfaff 335 walking foot cylinder arm machine with the the oscillating binder attachment. It's a fantastic machine but it doesn't have enough pull for binding the seams( bought to set up as a dedicated binder) of my backpacks and bike bags. you can see my work www.alpineluddites.com, just so you have a reference for the type of items i was using it on. I know now it's a better leather machine than nylon from friends who own small production facilities here in Colorado. My staple machine is the Consew206RB-5 which just plows through anything with #69 & 92 thread. I also use it for sewing on leather patches and bottoms on some of my packs too. so I have 20 hours of actual sewing time on the this machine. Has the Pfaff anti knock off sticker. 3/4 hp servo. has both oscillating binder and regular plate and feet. located in Colorado. asking $1900

So I bought this cylinder arm machine. It worked fine at the dealer for sewing and picking up thread. I re-threaded it now to the thread color i needed. Filled the bobbin and it won't pick up the bobbin thread. Bobbin spins fine. No thread stuck in there. Put brand new needle. So after unsuccessfully getting my bobbin to pick up the thread. I put back the one that the dealer had and that was working.. Still won't pick up thread. Not sure what I'm doing wrong

Hello, I'm interested in doing small wallets and possibly briefcases later. I've been looking at the Cowboy 4500 and the Highlead version of the cylinder arm and would appreciate your input. The leather I'm sewing is pretty thick, I would be sewing 1/4 inch thick leather regularly (4.5-5 oz). I've noticed that the Highlead is much more expensive than the Cowboy, but I've heard the parts are easier to order. One person told me the Cowboy can take Juki parts though. However I like the price of the Cowboy- essentially I can get the 16 inch arm for the same price a Highlead 9 inch would take if I purchased locally. Also the Needle Positioner feature comes with the Highlead and I can imagine it being useful for a novice like myself, but the Cowboy salesman didn't know what a needle positioner was. Any thoughts on that? Both come with a servo motor. I've read some other forums but would appreciate your input. Perhaps my biggest concern is service and support since I'm new to industrial sewing and leathercrafting. There will be issues and I know I'll have questions. Thank you so much for your support.
