  1. I just acquired a Consew 206RB-3 in near mint condition for $250.00 and am beside myself excited! I have not used a walking foot machine prior to this and am wondering about any and all things related to it. I am thinking a Servo motor might be the way for me to go but don't know what model or where to purchase? I am planning on sewing heavier fabrics and leather. I have been reading everything I can get my hands on most of which has been online. I do have operators manuals for ever Consew 206RB except the 3, (my model of course). I have gone over the entire machine and everything seems to be working as it should. I'm not certain but it looks like the oil wicks on the top of the machine may have gotten shredded, (I've included some photos). I have been searching online for replacement oil wicks and haven't found any. Does anyone have a source for those? Also are there supposed to be any wicks in or around the needle bar area? Is there anyone out there that lives in the Lexington, Kentucky or Ohio that may have sources for supplies like thread, needles and etc., or even online sources that can help someone like myself new to this kind of machine? Any help or advice greatly appreciated. Thanks, Heidi ,
  2. I was given a bag full of hardware. While sorting it, I ran across two W shaped things. Does anyone know what they are and how to use them? Thanks. Bob
  3. For a new line of bracelets I'm looking for magnetic bracelet clasps with our logo. I spend a lot of time finding a supplier in China, but unfortunately this seems like a never ending road leading nowhere... Anyone knows a supplier who can make this kind of hardware? Doesn't necessarily have to be our own design, some kind of standard clasp than can be customised might be just as interesting :-) All help we be very much appreciated! Have a great day! 4. I am trying to find friction swivel and lazy susan for a tool belt at a reasonable price. Any ideas?
  5. hey Everyone, I was wondering would anyone know of any good european suppliers of hardware and dye? The UK apparently have a law about not sending oil dye in the post so i can't get it sent to me in ireland. Im wondering are there any other companies in europe that sell oil dye . Im looking to buy a 32 oz one. Tandy only have a very small one or a lot bigger one. IT was leProvo who said they would not send it to me btw ..... Any / all suggestions welcome ! thanks!
  6. Im the process of creating logo bracelets but I'm having such a hard time finding the right hardware. I've tried a list of suppliers in China, but this takes so much time, and is leading nowhere :-( Anyone got suggestions where I can find a maker of custom pins like the pin in the photo? (Since I'm Dutch I'm not really sure if "pin" is the right name, but it took me a day to figure this out :-) I'm also looking for logo (magnetic) bracelet clasps, guess I have to post that in an other topic, but any tips will be more than welcome as well :-) All help we be very much appreciated! Have a great day! Frank Franc & Hanz | Bespoke and handmade bags & cases www.franc-hanz.com
  7. I am trying to find twist lock closure that are more decorative. Almost everything ive been able to find is very basic. Does anyone know where i can find more of a selection besides hearts and butterflys? Thanks for the help Adam
  8. I’m looking for some of this hardware, this is off of a German military bag from the WWII. All the riveted in buttons and then this sam brown type stud are aluminum, I don’t care so much about the aluminum as I do finding something this shape, it’s almost like some kind of shouldered rivet. Anyone know about these? Thank you!
  9. Hey guys I remember people asking for a better source for this part. This one looks well built. Enjoy http://www.leevalley.com/us/hardware/page.aspx?p=72944&cat=3,48759&ap=1
  10. I see a lot of leatherworkers using Japanese brass accessories, and really emphasizing that that is what they are using. What makes said hardware so superior and sought after? I came across Smoky Sumi's online store, and they have quite a selection of Japanese brass. Does anyone have any other sources? Thanks, Stephen
  11. I have a large collection of hardware I'm selling. The amount in the photo might be less than what I actually have- I noticed more pieces after I took the photos. I am NOT selling individual pieces. Each photo has the grouping of what I'm selling. Please don't ask for a selection of each group, I won't do it. I also have a ton of real snakeskin hides I'll be posting soon for sale! Email me- fastest way for a response- Rachael@heavyleathernyc.com

  13. I have stitched myself into a corner. I am super new and this is my first time at a large project. I am making a top loading duffel bag out of 2/3 ounce veg tan leather. I am unable to find hardwareto make the closure with grommets and a duffel keeper. The only duffel keeper I have found on the market is powder coated black. All current hardware is brass. I have not found a 1 inch inner diameter grommet in brass online. Nor do I know how to fabricate or purchase the keeper that the grommets would sit on top of and the strap with class onto for final closure. Looking for options to manage this problem. I am open to other ways of closing the top of the bag. here are some pics for what it's worth
  14. Elsa

    Farrow Buckles

Does anyone know of a place that carries these? I've tried getting touch with Ron's Tools but am not getting a response. Thanks! Elsa
  15. I had a watch strap spring pin disappear this past weekend, so I need to replace it. I discovered that Amazon had a humongous assortment, about 500 times more pins than I actually needed, for about the same price I could actually purchase the needed pins: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CFVUASS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 With that many pins in hand, I might have to start making a bunch of watch straps! I can have a new strap for every day of the month! Maybe others will find this information timely and useful.
  16. I am a huge fan of buckle guy, but I am looking for some more suppliers that offer similar quality/style without minimums. I am specifically looking for some sleek/minimal looking solid brass center bar buckles. It would also need to be a situation where I could continue to buy stock in the future, so I don't think anything on eBay or amazon would be a good choice (unless you know more than I do). Ive checked out buckleguy, OTB, leatherguy, leathersmith, weaver, zack white, tandy, springfield, brettuns... Maybe overseas? I don't know. Thanks! Zayne
  17. Anybody know where to buy solid brass hardware (in the U.S.) with finish like this (not antique)? O-, D- rings, swivels, etc. I'm checked out Weaver, Tandy, and Buckle Guy, but i'm especially drawn to those flat ones, look really high end to me. thanks!
  18. Hello everyone, I'm trying to locate a suppluer that carries these type of latches, but won't charge an arm and a leg for shipping them to Texas.
  19. I've recently run into a delima regarding folded leather straps that I created where I intend to layer one folded strap on top of a wider folded strap. The issue that I am having is that my grommets and snaps are deep enough to set properly as the neck and posts don't clear the layers. I'd need grommets and snaps that are about 3/8 in depth/length. In this case, I am not looking for suggestions on shaving or altering the piece; I'm specifically looking for hardare that can can handle the depth of the project. Any vendor suggestions would be great! Thank you in advance!
  20. BRAND NEW ACCESSORIES! Hi love! Are you looking for leather belts? accessories? tools to make belts and other leatherwork with? I invested in leatherwork while located in TX and moved to Alabama sooooo, obviously a huge change in market potential! I decided to just let it go and sell it to start a more passionate venture
  21. I am looking for a vendor of 1.5" belt buckles made of stainless steel. Any direction is appreciated. Thanks !
  22. I'm looking for some custom copper rivets with my brand on them, a la jeans. I'm also looking for some 1cm and similar size flat top snaps with my brand on them. Any ideas?
  23. So I've been on a quest to use materials and components made in the USA for my projects. It's a point of pride for me, and also a selling point when talking to people about my items. I've been fairly happy with Hermann Oak veg tan, and I've been very happy with Maine Thread's polycord, so those areas are sorted. Finding quality metal hardware has been a real pain, however. I have a Gold Star press, so I wanted snaps and rivets that fit my existing dies. I have a strong dislike for plated steel, as a lot of my things go outside and will eventually rust here in perpetually soggy Western Oregon. I finally found Dot Fasteners and Rome Fastener Sales. Dot never got back to me regarding samples or country of origin. I called Rome and talked to Georgia, who sent me sample snaps and rapid rivet samples almost immediately. No charge for a handful of each to check on my press. So far so good! The samples appeared to be high quality and did indeed work with my dies, although I had to slightly file down the ligne 20 snap socket die. Here's where things got strange/frustrating. I emailed the sales email address asking for a quote (there are NO prices anywhere on their website) and got no response. I emailed Georgia, copying sales, asking the same info and got no response. About a month later I called back and was transferred to Robert who apologized and took down all the part numbers and my email to send me a quote. I got nothing. A few weeks later I called again and got Francine, who again took the part numbers and promised to email or call that day or the next with the quote. She called me back a couple hours later with a detailed quote for all the items, which was great. They have a $125 minimum on the full order, no minimums on individual items, and I should email my order with part numbers and quantities to Robert, which I did. I got no response or confirmation and had about totally given up on them, but about a week later Francine called to get my payment info (credit card) and said my order was shipping. I told my wife, "I've never had to work so hard to give a company my money!" Several days later my order arrived (complete and correct, you can bet I checked it...) and I'm pretty pleased with the quality. I ordered ligne 20 & 24 snaps, some small rapid rivets, and some snap hooks all in both solid brass and nickel over brass. Ligne 20 brass and nickel over brass. Ligne 24 brass and nickel over brass. As for a recommendation, I don't quite know what to say. So, here are the bullet points for you to decide if you want to try them... Service: Obviously getting pricing and ordering is not as easy as it should be. I don't know if my experience was standard, or if I just had some especially bad luck. They were also out of stock on several less common items (nothing that was critical for me to get) and, again, I don't know if that's a normal thing. Quality: Good, but also a couple of odd inconsistencies. The nickel L20 sockets are stamped "ROME * USA", while the brass ones are stamped "ROME * MILFORD". The nickel L20 eyelets are stamped "ROME * USA" very clearly, while the brass ones are stamped "ROME * ROME" very lightly. I like having them marked, but it's odd that they don't all match. The L24 parts have no markings. The brass parts all appear to have a clear coat protectant on them, which only time will tell if it holds up. The brass is not polished looking, like a plated finish would be. That's fine with me, but some might object. Selection: Very good. Lots of variations on snap cap or eyelet lengths, lots of rivet cap sizes and post lengths. Really more combinations that I think you can find anywhere else I've seen. They also have a lot of base metal and finishes available. I wonder how hard it would be to order more exotic combinations, given my difficulty in placing a very standard order. Price: Not bad. More than crappy Chinese steel, certainly, but not terrible. Solid brass small rapid rivets are about $0.25 each. Solid brass L20 snaps are roughly $.29 each. They do charge a few cents more for the nickel plated brass, and I imagine other metals/finishes are priced accordingly. They do offer brass or nickel plated steel for a fair bit less, although I didn't get prices. Again, not exactly cheap, but I think fair for quality brass made in the US of A. Long review, but I know others are interested in finding quality and/or domestic suppliers. I'll definitely give Rome my business when I'm due for my next resupply and hope that the service issues were an anomaly.

  25. Hello, I've been trying to find a supplier to order american made hardware from. Preferably hardware with matte and/or antique brass finish. But mainly just looking for hardware made in the United States. I do a lot of strap and belt making, so I'm looking for American-made rivets, split key rings, o rings, d rings, reducing loops, buckles, etc. I have no idea where to look. Google hasn't been any help. There are no local manufactures in my area. The owner of www.TapAndDye.com uses all American hardware, so I know it's out there. I asked him, but never heard back. Can someone please point me in the right direction?
