I am trying to find a supplier for the type of hardware attached in the following photo, but I don't really know what to call it so that is proving difficult. Anyone know what this is called, or ideally where I could buy them? Thanks so much!

Does anyone know the proper name (so I can order it) for the closure hardware on a Nambu Holster flap. I know that the flap-strap locks onto a brass button stud, but what is the locking hardware called on the flap-strap so I can order one. Also where would I order one.

Okay so I'm completely new to any sort of leatherwork, but I've been thinking of doing a project that involves it in honor of my all time favorite movie and need professional advice on the names of hardware that I need as well as how to treat, cut, paint, and sew the leather to fit onto the rods that connect to a metal base that individually pivot so the tail piece can be opened and folded. I attached the screenshot from the movie that I want to replicate as well as a couple of blueprints for how I think I should go about the project. Like I said, I'm an amateur so any professional advice would be appreciated. This is a project I hope to do soon once I have more free time and money on my hands, but also want to stay on a budget while still getting the highest quality stuff possible. I hope to have a life size genuine replica of the tail (4.5 feet) long and opens at about the same length at the longest point of the tail for display at my home to hang on hooks or nails. Also if I somehow pull this off, I want to know how to keep the display looking its best so it lasts a lifetime. Right now, in terms of hardware, I need to know the names of the objects I'm hoping to build the metal framework out of. I want to find a metal flate piece that has holes where I want to attach to the metal hollow rods using some sort of pivot hinge so it moves on horizontal plan to open and close the tail to make it realistic to the one from the movie. Also in terms of the leather, I want to know the best type of leather to get. Looking for the type that isn't too rough while still being flexible and thin so its easy to work with so I can sew the two pieces together once they are cut so that there are slits between the two pieces that will be placed over each of the rods. I need to find the best way to go about painting the leather so that the paint looks roughened while still looking vibrant and want the paint to last as long as possible. I hope my blueprints help explain this a little better and maybe someone with the expertise can guide me in the best way to go about this project.

Hi, I've designed a phone pouch and want to place an eyelet in the hole where the cord is (see the picture). However, I'm afraid that the male/female part of an eyelet might scratch the screen. Does any one have any idea of a way around? I've considered glueing a small round piece of leather atop of the inside eyelet part, but that will add to the thickness of the pouch and I don't want that. Thanks!

Hi folks, I've been scouring the internets for solid brass FLAT key rings in 1.5" outer diameter (or similarly sized). One of our accounts is requesting larger than the standard 7/8" or 1" and I can't find a resource. Any recommendations are appreciated! Buckle guy, Weaver, Tandy, etc do not carry. I can have them manufactured, but it will take about 6 weeks and my timeline does not allow. Many thanks!

I have not logged in for a long time...and when I did I saw some very outdated posts and information about our company. Here's the deal: YEP! we've been in business for a very long time. YEP! Ray still works here (40 years) and knows his shiz! YEP! I'm still actively managing operations here (only 16 years)! YEP! We still have live people answering the phone, who are really nice and helpful! NOPE! We are not running our business the same as we did 20,10 or even 5 years ago! YEP! We are still a wholesale distributor, with an easy qualification process and a $30 minimum order (NOT $75). YEP! WHAT? We now happily offer RETAIL PRICING. We are adding new products every day. YEP! We heard your feedback and OTB will launch a new "better user experience" website this November, with many enhancements and it will be mobile friendly. Please contact me with any questions and I welcome the opportunity to respond to any comments or feedback, even positive ones. All my best jackie@ohiotravelbag.com http://www.ohiotravelbag.com

i'm a new leatherworker in Thailand, here, I cannot find any good quality hardware stores. Where could I find some good quality hardware (as brass or copper button studs, fasteners, snap plates, magnetic bag clasp plate etc.) online in Asia? I heard that HONGKONG is the best place, is it right?

Hello everyone, my name is Matt and while I usually read here more than post here, I have some nickel-plated hardware that I'd like to sell to someone who could use it. I switched over to stainless steel hardware, so I don't have a use for this anymore, but it's all perfectly good and shouldn't go to waste! I want to sell everything as one group, for a flat price of $50, including shipping to anywhere in the US only. It's probably worth twice that, so I'd say it's a deal! Here's an approximate list of everything. Also see the attached pics. 4 - bags of approx 100/ea jiffy rivets, in sm and med 11 - scissor/trigger snap clips, various sizes 1"-1.5" strap 2 - 2" o-rings 2 - 1.5" o-rings 15+ - asst d-rings 6 - 1" strap slides 10+ - rectangle loops 1.5" 10 - 5/8" center bar buckles 10+ - 1/2" center bar buckles 4 - 1.25" center bar buckles 1.5" roller buckle 1" brass buckle I'm also flexible so make me an offer if you think $50 too much.

Hello everyone! I'm having some trouble locating a piece of hardware. I need to figure out what the "swivel" is on the attached holster. It looks like a large rivet cap the Weaver has except they don't make them that large. Looks to be about an inch diameter cap. Any idea what I could use to make a swivel holster like this? Any advice would be awesome! Thanks!

I want to make some nato watch straps, similar to the attached image, but I cant find ANYWHERE that sells the hardware. If anyone knows where I could get that kind of buckle/loops (especially if its solid brass) I'd be super pumped! Thanks!

How much larger that the width of the strap should the rings be?

I really want to make a leather bag for myself and I saw one of this clasp on the links below and loved it. Anyone know where I can source one of these? Hi guys, I have a buckle that's cast with zinc alloy and plated with brass. Wondering if there are any good rudimentary tests that I could run to see how well the plating will hold up. So far I've scrubbed a section with steel wool and am now soaking the piece in vinegar and the platting is still holding up. Obviously this isn't going to be an exact science, but I'm hoping to get a feel for its longevity. The hardware is going to be used on a bag that will experience some outdoor use (maybe some occasional rain), but nothing too serious. Has anyone had good experience with brass plated hardware? Thanks!

Can any of you help me find watch strap hardware - buckles, sprint pins and metal keepers (like on NATO straps)? I'm ready to start experimenting with crafting watch straps but can't find any of the needed hardware locally (Dallas area). Any online stores you'd recommend that don't require bulk orders?

I have bought a building which had been operated as a leather shop. It has riveting machines, punch out machines, cutting machines, skiving machines, pretty much everything needed to manufacture horse halters, leashes. leads, etc. It has about 12 pieces of machinery, the rivet machines are by Thomson, the punch out machines are by Western, all the machinery It 1,000's of pieces of hardware (rivets, studs, caps, o-rings, d-rings, square rings, buckles in numerous sizes (brass and nickel plated),most made by a company called North &Judd. It also has 1,000's of pieces of hardward like snaps, latches, swivels, snap bolts, etc. And not to mention the 1,000's of pieces of inventory like chains for leashes, horse halters, dog collars, strips of leather which were never finished...well you get tthe idea. If anyone is interested in some of this, please let me know. We have just begun loading some of this stuff on eBay, but if someone in the business could use it, that would be better. Thank you.

I'd like to invest in a strap cutter, but the only one I can find is the Tandy draw gauge. Which, strikes me as a an incredibly good way to cut my hand on the blade. Then I found this video : If you skip to the 1:45 mark, you can see the worker using a palm held device to cut strips. What is that tool, and where could I get one? I'd like to hear from more experienced posters on the preferred way to cut strips efficiently. Right now I'm using a ruler and it's not entirely consistent.

Hi Everyone Is there anywhere in the UK where I can buy high quality hardware for purses and bags? Such as closure hardware. Instead of having to buy from American or Italian suppliers! I've looked at the usual suppliers such as Tandy Leather UK and other suppliers. But I'm not finding anything unique on these sites or quality. Many Thanks VRSDesigns

Hi all, I'm supposed to make a purse/briefcase for a lawyer. I was planning to buy brass hardware from buckleguy or Springfield leather, but then my husband said that brass will tarnish, so I need to make sure I get anodized brass, or gold plated. However, most of the places I've looked have no information on the finish at all. Should I just steer clear of brass altogether and save myself the headache?

I am closing my pet collar and leash business and the entire contents of my workshop has to go. I have a good supply of hardware (collar and leash buckles, rivets, misc), fluids (angelus leather dye, big bottle of resolene, small bottles of Angelus leather paint, etc), hand tools (small selection of tooling/carving stuff, hole punches, rotary cutter, letter stamp sets, etc), a few larger tools (leather splitter, lace cutter), and leather (latigo and tooling, from 2/3 up to 9/10, most leather is Hermann Oak, also most leather is cut into strips for collars or 4" strips for easy storage and accessibility). Also have misc other stuff, like mailing envelopes, books and patterns. Located in Portland, OR, and willing to ship or deliver if you are close enough. Even leather will ship pretty easily since it is cut into strips and will fit in boxes nicely. Please let me know if you are interested in more details, and I will work on my inventory so I know exactly what I have and set asking prices. Thanks for your time!
