Made this holster for a friend in Alabama. Just got pictures of the final product, Super happy about the way it turned out.

A friend in Alabama commissioned me to make a holster for his Springfield loaded that would mount to the rigid strut on his Harley Sportster. He also said I had creative control and could do whatever I thought would work/look good. I didn't have the weapon or the bike handy to work from (so imagine how pleased I was to see that it turned out good). Istre is his name (French Cajun), Saints fan, lives in Mobile. The state motto is carved in (Audemus jura nostra defendere = We dare defend our rights). The shape of the state is stitched in. The holster is removable (for those days when you need/want that sort of accessory). The frame is 1x 1/8th steel, with bar clamps to fit the 1-1/8th in risers. I think it turned out pretty nice, and He loves it. thanks for looking, enjoy. Murray

So I started doing holsters around Feb of this year these are a few I have done and would like you guys to help me. Just some pointers about my edges and my sewing. I know my lines are alittle off which I purchased a sewing machine and they will be getting better. Ok enough of my rambling any tips will be greatly appriciated. The small 380 was my first and the paddle holster is my latest I did use my new burnishing tool attached to my drill press on it. I still want to get a small belt sander to even out the edges but the new burnisher is amazing ordered it from a guy in Utah off eBay good price and great piece. Thanks Gregg Workingmanleather

I made this for a friend that has 2 Uberti Scholfields, one with a 7in barrel and one with a 5. He wanted both holsters to fit a 7in. This is the first belt and the largest project I have done to date. The Belt is fully lined, made from two cuts of 9-10oz veg-tan, and both holsters and the billet end are lined in 2-3oz calf. I dont own a machine so everything is hand stitched in my horse with awl and harness needles. Please any criticism is welcome, let me know what you think or what i could have done better.

I need help. I have tried to research this but i am amazed at how overwhelming and confusing this has been. I am looking to purchase a sewing machine. I make holsters and the majority of my work consistes of 8-9 oz leather i am looking for a machine that can handle the load. i know there are many options out there I am just looking for some direction from seasoned pros. I acquired a singer 241-12 in a trade recently and I know this machine will not work but it was basically given to me. I have roughly $1000 to spend. any reccomendations in this price range. Thanks

Hello everyone, I'm new here but have been lurking and learning for a while. My daughter has started school to be a hairstylist and asked me to make her a "holster" to carry her scissors, comb, brush, razor, etc in. She said the ones that the school sells are vinyl and very cheaply made and since I was now trying to learn to be a leathersmith...................!!! Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has made these before or maybe has a pattern or maybe would just share their thoughts. Keep in mind that I'm a beginner! She will be keeping 3 pairs of scissors, small electric razor (like used to trim mustache) a couple of combs and a brush. I was also hoping to carve a UK emblem on it somewhere. Thanks in advance! BTW, I am very impressed by how helpful and friendly everyone is. This forum is really great! Bill

I made this holster about a week ago. I tried to dye it black, but it did not ever get black. I am using water based eco something that I got at Tandy. What the heck did I do wrong? Any other critique would be gladly accepted as I am new to this.

Haven't posted anything for a while, so I thought I would put up a pic of my recent Stingray holster project for a Walther PPQ. I had purchased two beautiful hides months ago and was literally nervous to start cutting on them Anywyay here is the final product... oh, and you can't see it in the pic, but I did full shark skin on the back. Thoughts, critiques, etc. are more than welcome!!

I've been diggin on this forum for a week or so trying to find some info to help me finish my hunting holster. I was considering buying a holster for awhile, but the only leather holster that would really work is $130. So, I decided to try doing it myself because I wasn't about to shell out that kind of money if I could do it myself for less. It's very plain, no tooling. However, it fits the gun very well. Tight enough that the gun isn't going anywhere. I can draw the gun easily and the holster does not flatten out when the gun is drawn, so I can put it back into the holster with one hand. Since I didn't have any leather tools, everything was cut with a utility knife. The holes were laid out with a fork to try to keep the stitching evenly spaced and clean. Also, since I didn't cut the sides perfect, I sanded the edges flush with a dremel after they were stitched. That was a trick I read on this forum somewhere. I still need to burnish the edges and add a top coat. The top coat is something I don't know how I'm going to do it. I'll probably end up at the local leather store asking for something that I can coat it with that will handle being out in the weather. Thanks to everyone on this forum, as the project would not have turned out as good without the info here. As well as it turned out it's not perfect, but my next one will hopefully be better. http://s1298.beta.ph...309362456777306

Hey there, I just picked up a Taurus PT709 Slim and made my first from scratch holster for it. I made a few little errors, mainly that rivet that is off a bit. The loops are a little long, but I made them with a 2 inch belt in mind. I find it to be more comfortable than my Crossbreed holster that I spent close to $100 on for another gun. The retention is very good as well.

This is the second holster and gun belt I made. It was time consuming but fun.
